Ken Griffin is a billionaire, and thus he is also a philanthropist. Why, just visit the Art Institute of Chicago or Harvard’s undergraduate financial aid office and you’ll see. His largesse is also paying for a bike path along frigid Lake Michigan and non-profits benefiting poor New Yorkers, a city he doesn’t even live in. And let us not forget his generous gifts to that neediest and most hapless cause, making Little Marco Rubio the next President of the United States.
But not all of Ken Griffin’s giving is done in so public a fashion as the above, or as his very public non-giving to his ex-wife. Did you know, for example, that he’s been teaching ruthlessness, intensity, hypnotically terrifying and psychologically damaging coffee rituals, and weaponizing ordinary items to Navy SEALs? And also giving them a lot of money? Well, now you do. For as he has given to them, they, in turn, will give him a plaque.
Mr. Griffin, founder and CEO of Chicago-based Citadel LLC, is an active philanthropist and has been "a generous champion of the Navy SEAL Foundation and those they serve," said William Strong, chairman of the event, in a news release from the Virginia Beach, Va.-based foundation.
"The Patriot Award recognizes Ken's commitment to the Naval Special Warfare community and their families and his commitment to our nation," Mr. Strong added.
And KG’s also making sure he’ll have even more money to give to the SEAL Foundation going forward, thanks to his latest talent haul.
Hedge fund giant Citadel has hired three staffers in its build out a fresh investment unit.
The team, which invests across various asset classes, is set to grow to 20 to 25 investment professionals, and was called Fundamental Strategies when it was announced earlier this year.
So Michael Doniger, Jeff Pskai and Neel Gupta—the latter last seen at the late Pine River Capital—are just the beginning. And adding the additional score or so certainly shouldn’t be difficult at all because, well, you know.
