The Philadelphia Experiment

The Philadelphia Experiment has been called a fantasy, a hoax and a real occurrence.

It is/was very real. It happened during World War 2. It involved some of the top scientists in electrical engineering and involved involved theories and work by Einstein and Tesla.

It was carried out in the naval shipyard of Philadelphia. It was to be an experiment in the cloaking of ships from radar searches of submarines and even the cloaking ability from vision of the enemy, if possible. The results, were not what they anticipated and were so bizarre, as to be unbelievable.

Einstein came up with a theory called The Unified Field Theory between the years 1927 to 1929.la, was working. After some time at trying to make this work, it was reportedly abandoned. Tesla was working on his rotating magnetic field which was patented in the 1880's. He had worked with the navy during WW1 and continued with them into the 1940's.

Tesla's Columbus egg experiment was a display of his theory. Here is a photo of how the magnetic field raised the egg to stand on it's tip:

In 1943, after equipping a ship with a bar magnet wrapped in insulated coiled wire, that ran the length of the ship, 2 huge generators they began the first experiment. They notice a fog developing as the generators powered up. the fog began to envelop the ship and it became invisible. The displacement of the water by the hull could still be seen. When the experiment was over, the men, on board the ship were acting strangely. some visible sick some talking to themselves and laughing. some just shaken. This is what was reported as happening next:

"The experimental ship also somehow mysteriously disappeared from its Philadelphia dock and showed up only minutes later in the Norfolk area. It then subsequently vanished again only to reappear at its Philadelphia dock. Total elapsed time - a mater of minutes. " (p. 89). "Suddenly, the deep fog “flashed off”, leaving Silverman in a very confused state and wondering, “what in the world I was doing in Norfolk.” He said he had recognized the place as Norfolk “because I had been there before to the ship’s other dock there.” Then just as suddenly, the green fog returned; it lifted again and Silverman found himself back at dockside in the Philadelphia Navy Yard " (p. 249). "One day, looking at the harbor from the dock, [five British merchant seamen in Norfolk, VA] were understandably amazed to see a sea-level cloud suddenly form in the harbor, and almost immediately dissipate,, leaving a destroyer escort in full view, which stayed but a few moments before it was covered by a cloud and vanished again. " (p. 250). http://signallake.com/innovation/PhiladelphiaExperiment.pdf

When the ship returned back to Philadelphia, some men were missing. 5 men were melded in the metal of the ship.

It has been said, that this experience ended the experiment. Precautions could have been better implemented to protect the men on board. Since the reactions to the experiment were not known however, they were ill-prepared for what actually happened.
