Further proof of the plan, IMO. They're supposedly in power now, but in fact their asses are in the wind. At least 60% of the country despises them utterly, and a large number of the rest are waking up to who they really are because of the over-the-top cartoony shit they've pulled the last two weeks, and those people are now out for blood after losing their jobs etc.
I don't think they have a backup plan, I don't think they have any plan at all. What I think is that they're playing the heel, which makes me suspect that this is all kayfabe, which makes me comfy. Not 100% on that, but praying it is so.
