It did used to be one of the requirements that you must be a third degree Freemason to join the Shriners. They got rid of that maybe 5-8 years ago. I don't know what else it takes to join as I was never in the Shriners. I was just a regular third degree blue lodge Freemason until I found out what they were really about.
