This is what they do. They flood the board with DISINFO and then some anons jump on it in concert (unknowingly) with a big band of shills. Then they release "authoritative" news articles to discredit those "Qanons", and the cycle repeats itself.
They used twitter just as effectively (if not more so) by impersonating anons spreading disinfo at a pace that anons actually had a hard time keeping up with. I think the biggest problem with what was going on was anons got too focused on old habits, and propped up big names instead of just doing all this themselves and trusting their own instincts/fact findings.
