Because if news was on, people may discuss things( it's part of the reason why everything was closed last year)

They did not want people talking about Antifa, hypocrite Dems, their lies about Covid, how nobody liked or planned on actually voting for Creepy Joe, election fraud, etc

Seeing things on tv can spark these type of conversations.
