Hiding Hunter Biden laying low in LA, starting art career with shady dealer

As federal prosecutors continue their criminal probes into Hunter Biden’s taxes and international business dealings, the President’s son — shuttling between Washington DC and a sprawling Hollywood Hills home — is lying low, consulting with lawyers and focusing on his new career in art.

Biden, who turns 51 next week, is prepping a solo show with Soho art dealer Georges Berges, who currently represents Sylvester Stallone. Berges was once arrested for “terrorist threats” and assault with a deadly weapon in California and has strong ties to China.

Biden, who continues to hold business interests in a billion-dollar Chinese investment firm, moved into the 2,000-square foot hilltop Los Angeles home with his wife Melissa Cohen in January 2020, two months before the birth of their baby boy.

The home is connected to Shane Khoh, a Los Angeles-based entrepreneur and real estate investor who is CEO of SXU Investment Holdings LLC, the California company that has owned the $3.8 million property since 2011, according to public records. Khoh, an American who is fluent in Chinese, sits on the board of Siong Heng Realty Pte Ltd., a Singapore-based real estate holding company, according to his LinkedIn profile. He is also listed as a “venture partner” of Diverse Communities Impact Fund, a private-equity group that features former Democratic New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson on its board of advisors.

The house was featured in a New York Times profile of Biden as an emerging abstract painter last year. Last year Khoh told The Washington Examiner that Biden was paying $12,000 a month for the property, which features a pool house that Biden has turned into an art studio. Khoh denied any prior relationship with Biden to the newspaper.

Large Group of Haitian Migrants Cross Border into Texas

Border Patrol agents in the Del Rio Sector apprehended a large group of suspected Haitian migrants who illegally crossed the border from Mexico into Texas.

Although apprehensions on the border garner little attention, the size of such groups and their country of origin does tell a story.

An anonymous source reported the illegal entry and apprehension of a single group of over 90 illegal aliens. Many in the group are suspected of being nationals of Haiti. According to the source, Mexican immigration officials alerted U.S. authorities along the border concerning the potential arrival of the migrants who were traveling through Mexico on charter busses.

It is not uncommon for third-country nationals from outside Mexico to be provided travel documents requiring them to depart Mexico within a set time frame. These documents provide for free travel through Mexico.

This most likely is the case as Mexican immigration officials allowed them to continue towards the U.S. Mexico Border.

A spokesperson for U.S. Customs and Border Protection confirmed the information indicating the arrest of over 90 illegal aliens occurred near Del Rio, Texas, shortly after 9 a.m. on January 30. Law enforcement authorities in Mexico dispersed another group of migrants who did not illegally cross to the U.S. At present, the group is being detained in Del Rio, Texas, and being processed by Border Patrol agents. The exact nationality of the group is not known for that reason, but many are suspected of being Haitian nationals.

More Haitian migrants are expected to follow.

Earlier this month, a pregnant migrant woman from Haiti drowned while attempting to cross the border in this same area, Breitbart Texas reported. Her travel companion’s body was found by Mexican authorities along the Rio Grande a few days earlier.

Democrats weigh expanding lower courts after Trump blitz

Democrats are mulling how to reshape the federal judiciary after Republicans moved at record speed to confirm conservative judges over the past four years.

Former President Trump, aided by a GOP-controlled Senate, set the second-fastest pace on record for judicial appointments, allowing him to stack the courts with picks, including three Supreme Court justices, who were overwhelmingly white, younger and ideologically conservative.

President Biden has 50 vacancies to fill: three on the influential circuit courts and 47 in district courts. That number will eventually grow, including an opening on the powerful D.C. circuit court once Merrick Garland is confirmed as attorney general.

As Democrats plot their strategy, they are floating expanding the number of lower court seats, an idea that could have some bipartisan support.

“I have in the city of Buffalo a huge — they don't have enough judges. There's this long line before you can get to court because they don't have enough. So we could expand those,” Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said during a recent interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), the majority whip and incoming Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, also appeared open to the idea, saying that a GOP senator had already raised the issue with him.

“Interestingly enough, I had a Republican senator who approached me about expanding the number of federal judges in his state so there seems to be some sentiment that there [are] backlogs in the dockets of federal judges,” Durbin said.

Expanding the number of court seats would require legislation in Congress, including GOP support in the Senate.

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) hasn’t discussed the issue with Durbin but said he is willing to discuss more lower court judgeships.

“My state’s a big, growing state, and we’ve got huge caseloads. … I’d be open to having a conversation about that,” Cornyn said.

Nominations need only a simple majority to be confirmed in the Senate after Democrats nixed the 60-vote filibuster for executive and lower court nominees in 2013 and Republicans got rid of the same threshold for the Supreme Court in 2017. Republicans also changed the rules in 2019 to reduce the amount of debate time for most executive nominees and district judges, a change that will now benefit Democrats.

But Democrats will need to decide what to do about blue slips — the sheet of paper that indicates if home-state senators back a nominee, support that had been considered critical before the Trump administration.

Republicans ignored the blue slip for circuit court judges, infuriating Democrats and outside activists by moving Trump picks over their opposition. In addition to determining if they’ll follow the GOP precedent, senators are under pressure from outside groups to ignore them on district court nominations as well.

Media’s 'Biden Is the Greatest Catholic Since Francis of Assisi' Narrative Is Not Going Well

The establishment media has been pulling out all the stops, as Stephen Kruiser noted Monday, to convince us that Joe Biden is the most serene Catholic monarch since King St. Louis IX. Huffington Post writer Beth Stoneburner even wondered if “Christians will ever allow themselves to admit that a Democratic president is actually doing more for their supposed causes than the Republican Party ever did.” The New York Times hailed Old Joe as “the most religiously observant commander in chief in half a century,” who “regularly attends Mass and speaks of how his Catholic faith grounds his life and his policies.” However, a wrench was thrown into this propaganda machine on Friday by the unlikeliest of sources: the U.S. Catholic bishops.

Archbishop Joseph F. Naumann, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, and Bishop David J. Malloy, chairman of the Committee on International Justice and Peace, issued a statement on Thursday saying that Biden’s executive order removing blocks on funding for abortion providers overseas was “incompatible with Catholic teaching.”

Heinously indifferent to their contravention of the prevailing propaganda, Naumann and Malloy wrote: “It is grievous that one of President Biden’s first official acts actively promotes the destruction of human lives in developing nations. This Executive Order is antithetical to reason, violates human dignity, and is incompatible with Catholic teaching. We and our brother bishops strongly oppose this action. We urge the President to use his office for good, prioritizing the most vulnerable, including unborn children.”

Even before that, Archbishop José H. Gomez of Los Angeles, President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, wrote on Inauguration Day: “Rather than impose further expansions of abortion and contraception, as he has promised, I am hopeful that the new President and his administration will work with the Church and others of good will. My hope is that we can begin a dialogue to address the complicated cultural and economic factors that are driving abortion and discouraging families. My hope, too, is that we can work together to finally put in place a coherent family policy in this country, one that acknowledges the crucial importance of strong marriages and parenting to the well-being of children and the stability of communities. If the President, with full respect for the Church’s religious freedom, were to engage in this conversation, it would go a long way toward restoring the civil balance and healing our country’s needs.”

The U.S. Catholic Bishops have never been known for their conservatism or for any significant opposition to the Left’s overall agenda, so even the fact that these statements were issued is momentous. But wait. How could something “incompatible with Catholic teaching” issue from the hands of Saint Gropey’s handlers? Well, you see, to their minds there is no contradiction, for, as The New York Times put it, Biden represents “a different, more liberal Christianity” that is, it claims, now “ascendant: less focused on sexual politics and more on combating poverty, climate change and racial inequality.”

Labeling murder of the unborn a matter of “sexual politics” is creative, but it doesn’t succeed in papering over the inconvenient fact that the Ten Commandments has something to say about killing, but relatively little about massively expanding the federal government and turning over one’s obligation of charity to it. Confiscatory socialist policies that reward unemployment and broken families do more to ensure racial inequality than to heal it, but the propaganda machine isn’t about to let sweet reason intrude into its manipulation of your emotions.

Military to distribute nearly half million vaccines a day: FEMA reports

Nearly half a million people could receive the coronavirus vaccine every single day beginning in the near future with a new deal the Pentagon is moving to close on.

The Pentagon and the Federal Emergency Management Agency are working on a deal to have the military distribute around 450,000 COVID -19 vaccines a day if that many are available, according to CNN.

The agency reported Friday this number could be reached with the deployment of 10,000 troops to 100 distribution centers across the nation.

“The department is evaluating the request, and what kinds of support it can provide. Given the significance of the request, it will be reviewed urgently but carefully to determine what DOD assets can safely be made available to support the effort,” Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said Thursday, according to CNN.

CNN reports that the military would not receive additional doses, that it would be based on the amount of doses the states could get.

The details of the deal are not final and can be changed.

The news agency reports that the locations would distribute vaccinations for 16 hours a day with two 8 hour shifts. The report also says the troops would be deployed within 96 hours of a final agreement.

A Huge Piece of California’s Highway 1 Near Big Sur Collapsed Into the Ocean

A huge piece of California’s Highway 1 was washed out this week by a winter storm that brought heavy rain and snow.

California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) officials said in a statement Friday a debris flow from the hillside above the roadway “overwhelmed drainage infrastructure, flowed across the highway, and eroded the road resulting in the complete loss of a segment of Highway 1” at Rat Creek, about 15 miles south of Big Sur, a mountainous stretch of the state’s central coast.

California Highway Patrol Officer John Yerace said he was in the area on Thursday around 4 p.m. when he noticed “this section of roadway, specifically the southbound lane, had fallen off into the ocean.”

Images and drone footage from the scene show a huge gap in the scenic highway, which runs along much of the California coast.

Caltrans crews discovered the debris flow on Thursday, and issued an emergency contract to Papich Construction in San Luis Obispo County to assist with the repair. At daybreak Friday, Caltrans crews and emergency contractors arrived at the scene and found “both lanes of the highway had washed out.”

The damage assessment team will continue to work through the weekend, Caltrans’ statement said. It’s unclear how long the repair could take and the road will remain closed in the meantime.

Officer Yerace said upon discovery of the washed out road he stayed at the scene to keep motorists safe until he was relieved. He later returned.

“Some time overnight, prior to 6:30 this morning, we responded back to the scene with the assistance of Caltrans access and realized that the roadway is now gone,” he said.

The area where the road collapsed is about a mile south of the burn scar left behind by the Dolan Fire, one of the wildfires that ravaged the state last summer, Caltrans said.

Another stretch of Highway 1 reopened in July 2018, after a massive mudslide in May 2017 heaped tons of rocks on a quarter mile section of the highway, making it impassable and adding 13 acres to the coastline.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom has declared a state of emergency for Monterey and San Luis Obispo counties in response to winter storms that “threatened to cause mud and debris flows,” forcing the evacuation of thousands of residents, according to the declaration.

At least 25 structures in Northern California have been damaged as a result of mudslides and debris flow caused by a powerful atmospheric river-fueled storm. Most of the impacted areas are where burn scars exist from earlier wildfires.

Robinhood execs' contributions to House Financial Service panel leaders under scrutiny as hearing over GameStop saga announced

Robinhood co-founders channeled the maximum sum allowed to the campaigns of the chiefs of the House Committee on Financial Services last year, it has been revealed. The panel is poised to investigate the GameStop craze.

Federal records, dug up by the media in light of the continuing massacre of hedge funds by retail investors using trading apps like Robinhood and Webull, has showed that Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and the app co-founder Baiju Bhatt contributed $2,800 each to the campaigns of Maxine Waters (D-CA), Chairwoman of the House Committee on Financial Services, and top Republican on the committee, Patrick McHenry (R-NC), last October.

Under the federal law, $2,800 is the maximum allowed amount an individual donor can contribute to a candidate’s committee in the current election cycle.

Apart from this, both Tenev and Bhatt funneled $1,200 each to Innovation Political Action Committee, linked to McHenry, and to People Helping People, which, in turn, is associated with Waters. Tenev and Bhatt also donated $2,800 to WINRED, an online fundraising platform, endorsed by the Republican National Committee.

Sorry to any Robert McHenrys, this should be Patrick McHenry. Thx to @ff_ff8008ff_ff for the correction. Not only did Vladimir Tenev & Baiju Bhatt make exactly the same political contributions, these are their only political contributions.https://t.co/GE8gXu4oBc

— Jon Schwarz (@schwarz) January 30, 2021

All of the contributions were made in the span of several days in October and appear to be the only political activity from the Robinhood execs to have ever left a footprint in the federal records.

The scoop was first reported by Mediaite and the Intercept’s Jon Schwarz on Saturday, two days after Waters announced the committee will hold a hearing “on short selling” and “online trading platforms” in view of the Gamestock and other heavily shorted stocks trading bonanza.

Reached by Mediate, spokesperson for Waters did not provide additional comment on what some critics deem a potential conflict of interest, citing her only statement on the issue instead.

I'm sure they're not expecting anything in return for those donations. pic.twitter.com/oDSngIlPzC

— #MedicareforAllNOW (@JBoy02) January 30, 2021

Spokesman for McHenry dismissed the notion that the lawmaker could be biased in favor of the trading app, saying: “Rep. McHenry’s official actions have nothing to do with his political activities.”

In a statement on Thursday, Waters said that the focus of the hearing, the date for which has not been set yet, will be “the recent activity around GameStop (GME) stock and other impacted stocks with a focus on short selling, online trading platforms, gamification and their systemic impact” on the markets

Waters did not mention any trading platforms or hedge funds by the name. However, Robinhood traders, congregating on such platforms as Reddits’ WallStreetBets community, are seen as the main “culprits” behind the soaring stock prices of the companies like GameStop, BlackBerry and AMC Theatres, otherwise generally considered to be on the verge of demise.

Robinhood caught a lot of flack after the online brokerage severely restricted investors’ ability to speculate, imposing one share limit on a whopping 50 stocks, including that of GameStop and other “stonks" on Friday.

Corporations That Support The $15 Minimum Wage Can Afford It. Here’s Who Can’t

Large corporations have endorsed and lobbied for a $15 federal minimum wage in recent years, but while they can afford such a policy, small businesses would be harmed, multiple studies have shown.

“More than doubling the federal minimum wage is one of the policies that would threaten the fragile small business economic recovery,” said National Federation of Independent Business Vice President of Federal Government Relations Kevin Kuhlman.

The $15 minimum wage would result in 1.3 million workers losing their jobs, a 2019 Congressional Budget Office report estimated.

Large corporations have endorsed and lobbied for a $15 federal minimum wage in recent years, but while they can afford such a policy, small businesses would be harmed, studies have shown.

Many corporations, once known for their opposition to raising the federal minimum wage, have reversed course in recent years, raising their own wages to $15 per hour and lobbying the federal government to legislate an increase. While larger corporations have determined they could benefit from such a reversal, studies continue to show a federal minimum wage hike will crush small business.

“The small business economy is very fragile right now,” National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Vice President of Federal Government Relations Kevin Kuhlman told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “And anything that hampers that small business recovery should be avoided.”

“More than doubling the federal minimum wage is one of the policies that would threaten the fragile small business economic recovery,” he said.

Kuhlman said corporations are able to afford minimum wage increases because of their larger profit margins. Lobbying for minimum wage increases also puts corporations at a competitive advantage over their small business competitors who cannot afford the added costs.

Shanksville, Pennsylvania, on 9/11: The Mysterious Plane Crash Site Without a Plane

“This crash was different. There was no wreckage, no

bodies, and no noise.”

– Somerset County Coroner Wallace Miller [1]

“I was looking for anything that said tail, wing, plane, metal.

There was nothing.”

– Photographer Scott Spangler [2]

“I was amazed because it did not, in any way, shape, or form,

look like a plane crash.”

– Patrick Madigan, commander of the Somerset

barracks of the Pennsylvania State Police [3]

Many people who witnessed the site where United Airlines Flight 93 is supposed to have gone down on September 11, 2001, have said how little it resembled what they expected the scene of a plane crash to look like.

According to official accounts, Flight 93, the fourth plane to be hijacked on September 11, crashed in a field in Pennsylvania after its courageous passengers and crew members attempted to retake control of their plane. However, numerous individuals who spent time at the supposed crash site have described seeing almost nothing resembling wreckage from a plane there. Some witnesses have recalled seeing little or no human remains at the site. And although Flight 93 was reportedly “heavily laden with jet fuel” when it crashed, investigators found no contamination from jet fuel in the soil and ground water around the site.

There is a lot of suspicious evidence relating to the crash of Flight 93, which casts serious doubt on the official account of what happened. This evidence suggests that what witnesses saw might actually have been the result of an attempt to fake the scene of a plane crash in an appalling act of deception, rather than the site of a genuine crash. The relatively small amount of debris that some witnesses noticed could have been planted. If this is what happened, it would mean the fate of Flight 93 is still unknown.
