The psychological damage is deep. Liberation itself has been conditioned into these minds as a violation of their ‘freedom’. The liberated could likely turn upon the liberator for violating them. This is terrible… actually worse than the POW tellings.

However if the reference is to letting Them starve, I’m not averse to that as a plan save for the part where they eventually zombie-like come marching for me and mine. Shooting them then will be justified… whereas punching Them (for the chance of setting them straight) in the nose now, is not? They have set up quite the bind.

Joss Whedon is a bit schizo here and there. The Firefly story has loads of good notions, with a few head scratchers (for spice?).
