Stock buybacks show investors that the company is confident in it's future endeavors and believe that its stock value will increas over the next 6-12 months - very bullish. They also take stock off float, which makes the remaining stock on the market more valuable to holders of the stock (lower supply = increase value/price).
Apple is the leading stock on all US stock exchanges. This is a bullish sign for the markets.
