Google agrees to $3.8 million payout to settle US discrimination lawsuit

Tech giant Google has agreed to a $3.8 million settlement with the US Department of Labor after a lawsuit accusing the company of “systemic compensation and hiring discrimination” with thousands of women and Asian applicants.

The Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs investigated Google’s actions between September 1, 2014 and August 31, 2017, finding differences in the company’s hiring rates between female and Asian individuals and other potential employees.

Google will distribute $1.3 million in backdated pay to 2,565 employees, and $1.2mn to over 3,000 applicants, as part of the settlement, as well as agreeing to set aside $250,000 a year for five years to rectify pay equity issues that could arise in the future.

Announcing the settlement, the Department of Labor praised the agreement, stating that “regardless of how complex or the size of the workforce, we remain committed to enforcing equal opportunity laws to ensure non-discrimination and equity in the workforce.”

However, with Google’s parent company, Alphabet currently having a market cap of $1.28 trillion, the $3.8 million financial punishment is likely only a dent in the company’s earnings.

“We believe everyone should be paid based upon the work they do, not who they are,” Google wrote in a statement, claiming that it invests “heavily to make our hiring and compensation processes fair and unbiased.”

Google has come under fire in recent years over its alleged treatment of employees, particularly women, resulting in a mass walkout at its offices globally in 2018 due to accusations about how female staff were treated after making misconduct allegations about senior staff.

The company has also faced criticism for reportedly attempting to stop employees from unionizing, having terminated the employment of four staff members who supported protests at Google.

Day 11 of Biden Regime: Missing Vaccines? Trump Stole Them!

On Day 11, the Biden White House prepares to exercise more power than Trump ever had—and take less responsibility than ever.

RINOs Granted Audience for COVID Relief Negotiations.

On Sunday morning, a group of ten Senate Republicans (Sens. Collins, Cassidy, Portman, Young, Rounds, Murkowski, Romney, Capito, Moran, and Tillis) wrote to the President requesting a meeting to outline a dramatically pared-back $618 billion relief plan—about one-third of what Biden is proposing. Biden is expected to meet with the group on Monday.

But he’s ready and willing to forge ahead without them: Although Biden wants to host dialogue, “the need for action is urgent, and the scale of what must be done is large,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki said.

Don’t forget: With both houses of Congress now controlled by Democrats, Biden has more power than Trump ever did—and no excuse for failing to meet the standards he set as a candidate.

Where Could Trump Have Put Those 20 Million Vaccines?

Just 11 days in, “blame it on Trump” has become a well-worn response to scrutiny. Team Biden doesn’t know where 20 million vaccine doses went—and it’s all Donald Trump’s fault.

Out of nearly 50 million coronavirus vaccine doses distributed to states, 20 million are unaccounted for. The doses could be in shipping, in storage, or in a freezer somewhere, but no one on the state or federal level seems to know. About two million may be temporarily “missing” because of lags in reporting from states, the Biden team says—but otherwise, consider it a failure of the Trump administration, who successfully vaccinated 2.8 million Americans by the end of 2020.

It was the same story on January 25, when the Biden camp couldn’t even provide a ballpark figure when asked how many vaccine doses the government had on hand.

“What we’re inheriting from the prior administration… is much worse than we could have imagined,” Psaki said.

When will this excuse expire—particularly on issues moving as rapidly as vaccine distribution? At what point does the Biden White House own the success or failure of their vaccine distribution strategy and overall Coronavirus response—one month in? 100 days in? Never?

We will be sure to circle back.

Scrapping Rescissions.

On Sunday, Biden withdrew all 73 spending cuts proposed by President Trump on January 14.

The proposed cuts, totaling $27.4 billion, were part of Trump’s response to the December Coronavirus relief bill, which he eventually signed with the caveat that he would send back a redlined version to Congress as well as submit a formal rescissions request.

Trump’s rescissions would have rolled back funding across federal agencies and programs, including funds for the District of Columbia, National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities, U.S. Agency for International Development, and the Peace Corps—spending that Biden will retain as he stresses the urgency of delivering a $2 trillion bill with a smaller stimulus check than originally promised.

Former ECB Chief Mario Draghi Tapped To Lead Italy As Government Collapses

The day may have finally come for "Super Mario" to take the reins in his chaotic home-country of Italy and lead it back to the path of capitalism-driven prosperity before its banking system collapses (surely we jest).

But what will the "whatever it takes" central banker ethos mean with Draghi now responsible for one of the most fiscally-frayed major powers in Europe?

After a series of earlier votes, Giuseppe Conte, who was brought in as an apolitical compromise PM just a couple of years ago by a tenuous coalition of the Five Star movement and The League, Italy's popular right-wing anti-migrant party. The League's leader, Matteo Salvini, was ousted in the summer of 2019 after attempting to force another election in which The League would (at least in theory) walk away with enough votes for Salvini to expel his pesky coalition partners.

But that's not how it went.

Instead, Conte managed to cobble together a coalition involving both 5-Star and the opposition Democrats (violating Five Star's "anti-establishment" pitch) and he managed to emerge at the head of a new government, while Salvini was cast back into the opposition.

Salvini has been hard at work since then to win the prize he holds most dear: someday leading Italy as PM. But Conte has seemingly run out of luck as notoriously ungovernable Italy votes out another government.

President Sergio Mattarella, who serves a kind of caretaker role in Italy's political system, pushed back at the prospect of going to another election, as he urged Italy's lawmakers to continue talks to form a new caretaker coalition.

And in the latest sign that we now live in bizarro world, having joked just minutes before that…

US Issues License Allowing Certain Transactions Necessary to Port, Airport Operations in Venezuela

The US government has maintained economic sanctions against Venezuela for several years, but significantly increased them in January 2019 when Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro began his second term, claiming his victory was illegitimate and recognizing Juan Guaido as the country's self-proclaimed interim president.

On Tuesday, the US Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control lowered certain restrictions regarding transactions "ordinarily incident and necessary to operations or use of ports and airports in Venezuela."

The order modifies the terms of two executive orders issued by former US President Donald Trump that targeted assets held by the Venezuelan government, President Nicolas Maduro, or anyone affiliated with the government or the president.

"Except as provided in paragraph (c) of this general license, all transactions and activities involving the Government of Venezuela prohibited by Executive Order (E.O.) 13884 of August 5, 2019, as incorporated into the Venezuela Sanctions Regulations, 31 C.F.R. part 591 (the VSR), that are ordinarily incident and necessary to operations or use of ports and airports in Venezuela are authorized," the order signed by Bradley Smith, the Acting Director of the Office of Foreign Assets Control, said.

An executive order on August 5, 2019, by then-US President Donald Trump imposed an effective blockade on Venezuela, barring nearly all trade with the country without a specific license. However, by 2019, US sanctions had already been revealed to be responsible for killing tens of thousands of Venezuelans by frustrating the country's ability to import medicine and other treatments.

Since January 2019, Washington has recognized Guaido, then the head of Venezuela's disempowered National Assembly, as the country's interim president after he unexpectedly declared himself so. The announcement heralded the beginning of a hybrid war aiming to force Maduro from power as economic sanctions created a humanitarian crisis in Venezuela, which US leaders expected would cause the population to revolt against Maduro and back Guaido. However, that hasn't happened, and subsequent efforts, including an American mercenary hit squad hired by Guaido to capture or kill Maduro, have failed.

After US President Joe Biden took office on January 20, his administration quickly recognized Guaido as Venezuela's legitimate leader, even though Guaido is no longer even a member of Venezuela's National Assembly, on which Guaido had based his previous claim to power, and even though the head of Venezuela's opposition, Henrique Capriles, has asked Biden to drop his recognition. Several dozen nations had previously recognized Guaido's claim, although last week, the European Union seemingly reversed its previous position, saying Guaido was merely an opposition leader.

Top Democrat Calls on Pentagon to Screen Social Media Accounts of All Recruits for Ties to White Supremacy and “Violent Extremism”

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) one of the star Democrats in Congress and a complete idiot wants the Pentagon to start screening the social media of all recruits for white supremacy and “Violent extremism” views.

It’s not clear what she means by “violent extremism” but it is doubtful she’s talking about Antifa or Black Lives Matter.

The Hill reported:

A Democratic representative is urging the federal government and Department of Defense in particular to screen the social media accounts of U.S. service members and other “individuals with sensitive roles” for ties to white supremacist and far-right groups.

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, wrote in a letter to President Biden and his top Defense chiefs obtained by Politico that the federal government must do more to weed out far-right views and white supremacist sympathizers in the armed forces and other areas of government.

“Perhaps most importantly, DoD and the U.S. Government at large are not effectively screening servicemembers and other individuals with sensitive roles for white-supremacist and violent-extremist ties,” she wrote in the letter.

Politico added:

In a letter sent Friday to Biden, Defense Secretary LLOYD AUSTIN and DNI AVRIL HAINES, Speier calls on Biden to issue an executive order “identifying white supremacy and violent extremism as a critical threat that must be considered as part of the security clearance” process and direct all relevant agencies to update the background investigation process to include a review of social media.

‘Crazy conspiracies’: Plibersek confronts Kelly over COVID drug claims

Labor frontbencher Tanya Plibersek has confronted Liberal MP Craig Kelly in Parliament House over his disputed claims about COVID-19, telling him he is putting public health at risk.

Ms Plibersek, a former health minister, warned Mr Kelly that his comments could spread doubt about vaccines and leave people exposed to those who were carrying the coronavirus.

“My mum lives in your electorate and I don’t want her exposed to people who are not going to be vaccinated because of these crazy conspiracy theories that you’re spreading,” Ms Plibersek said.

The clash came in the press gallery corridor on Wednesday morning when the two were speaking to journalists and doing television interviews.

Mr Kelly defended himself by citing the work of immunologist Robert Clancy, an Emeritus Professor at Newcastle University, in favour of hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin as treatments for COVID-19.

Professor Clancy told The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age on Tuesday that studies had shown hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin worked, but Commonwealth Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly said last month there was not enough evidence to show they should be used.

Mr Kelly told Ms Plibersek that she was the one spreading misinformation.

“So your Prime Minister is wrong, is he?” Ms Plibersek asked.

Australia eyes new trade deal with Israel, focusing on cyber security, innovation

Australia will turn its attention towards clinching a trade agreement with Israel in a deal that would boost innovation, cyber security and defence.

Federal Trade Minister Dan Tehan will prioritise a deal between the two nations in the coming months as negotiations between the governments reach critical stages with the United Kingdom and the European Union.

Mr Tehan said he was keen to work “very quickly this year” on finalising a scoping study for an Israel-Australia free trade agreement by July with the hope to “move to something of more substance by end of the year”.

A similar feasibility study to scope the benefits of beginning trade negotiations with European Free Trade Association countries Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland will also be undertaken this year.

Israel’s innovation eco-system is one of the most developed in the world, shaped by a sophisticated system of major global investors, start-ups, the Israeli military and universities. Its economy has been growing continuously for the past 16 years, averaging 3.8 per cent GDP growth annually.

Austrade, the federal government’s trade, investment and education promotion agency established one of its five innovation “landing pads” in Tel Aviv in 2016 as part of the National Innovation and Science Agenda. The landing pad offered early-stage Australian start-ups a platform to build links with local and multinational business partners in Israel.

The two nations signed a Technological Innovation Cooperation Agreement in 2017, which included a bilateral funding to enable cooperation between Australian and Israeli companies.

Mr Tehan said he would soon begin discussions with the Israel Chamber of Commerce and other business groups in Australia with an interest in a free-trade agreement, in the hope of moving quickly to advance potential opportunities.

He said a free-trade pact would be a “logical next step for both nations” and it would be prioritised once negotiators working on UK and EU deals are finished at the end of the year.

“We hope we’ll have at least one completed this year” Mr Tehan said. “And then we will be ready to move on to FTA talks with Israel towards the end of this year.”

He said he was “very keen to be proactive” in seeking new markets for Australian exporters but he would be “principled” and “patient where necessary”.

Australia and Israel have a modest commercial relationship, with two-way goods and services trade amounting to nearly $1.3 billion, of which Australian exports were worth $393 million and imports from Israel $998 million.

In 2018, Australian investment in Israel totalled $976 million and Israeli investment in Australia was $310 million, mostly centred in the innovation sector.

Major merchandise exports to Israel have traditionally been live animals followed by plastic products, pearls and gems, beef, and aluminium. About 20 Israeli companies were listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, making Israel the third largest source of foreign company listings.

Let’s dump the Nobel Peace Prize. With a roll call of winners featuring terrorists and warmongers, it’s lost all its credibility

The Peace Prize committee has had another tough year finding worthy nominations. So it’s time to ditch the charade, avoid honouring those who later disgrace themselves and stop bestowing undue virtue upon global organisations.

One of the world’s great ironies is that the Nobel Peace Prize has honoured so many men of violence.

Bomb-happy killers, terrorists, dictators, authoritarian monsters, the lot… they’ve all won the hallowed Peace Prize. But still its guardians continue their unending hunt for validation, offering up an annual slate of nominees whose characters are dissected and debated as to the worthiness of their inclusion on such an ‘important’ list.

Slavoj Zizek: Should Donald Trump get the Nobel Peace Prize? Slavoj Zizek: Should Donald Trump get the Nobel Peace Prize?

This year’s full list of nominations, which closed just yesterday, has not been confirmed. But bookmakers seems to think it includes such luminaries as grumpy teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg, that old fella off the BBC nature shows David Attenborough, ex-US President Donald Trump as well as his gopher son-in-law Jared Kushner, Princess of Woke Meghan Markle, Covid-19 survivor Boris Johnson, Turkish hardman President Recep Tayip Erdogan, the World Health Organization and in case you missed the overarching political correctness of the whole show, the Black Lives Matter movement.

This completely unremarkable C-list of potential winners is expected to produce a shortlist in a month or so, from which the organising committee will ultimately vote for a worthy winner for one of the biggest, most coveted international awards. Seriously?

But in reality, even at this early stage, the chances are that the peace prize will go to the WHO – that’s what the bookies are clearly suggesting – so that means an organisation, an abstraction will take home the silverware later this year and the individuals will be left looking inadequate, embarrassed and very human.

It’s much safer that way, you see. The last man to win the Peace Prize was the young and charismatic Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in 2019, who had swept to power on a pledge of ending repression.

It didn’t quite work out so well, however, and what followed were extrajudicial killings, political opponents thrown into jail and lengthy internet shutdowns as the country plunged back into turmoil. The Nobel Peace Prize committee even tried to persuade the prime minister to turn things around, realising they may have been a touch premature in falling under the thrall of ‘Abiymania’. No joy there.

But that’s not the first time that the judgement of the wise men and women who make up the committee has been found wanting.

President Barack Obama was nominated for the Peace Prize just 12 days into his term of office, and won it 10 months later in 2009. While the official citation mentioned “his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples” (in just 12 days?) the drone-loving Prince fan will be remembered for dropping nearly three bombs every hour, 24 hours a day during 2016, his final year as president. And for the annihilation of Libya too, of course.

NY Times Calls For Biden to Appoint “Reality Czar” to Fight “Misinformation”

The New York Times has amplified claims by “experts” who are calling for Joe Biden to appoint a “reality czar,” prompting critics to compare the idea to the Ministry of Truth in George Orwell’s 1984.

In an article entitled ‘How the Biden Administration Can Help Solve Our Reality Crisis’, the NYT’s Kevin Roose cites “experts” who are calling on “the Biden administration put together a cross-agency task force to tackle disinformation and domestic extremism, which would be led by something like a “reality czar.”

The job of this “reality czar” would be to head up “a centralized task force could coordinate a single, strategic response” to things like COVID-related and election fraud “conspiracy theories.”

NYTimes suggests the Biden administration needs to appoint a “reality czar” to deal with misinformation and extremism. https://t.co/jVNWNJ3e1C

— Seth Fiegerman (@sfiegerman) February 2, 2021

“This task force could also meet regularly with tech platforms, and push for structural changes that could help those companies tackle their own extremism and misinformation problems. (For example, it could formulate “safe harbor” exemptions that would allow platforms to share data about QAnon and other conspiracy theory communities with researchers and government agencies without running afoul of privacy laws.) And it could become the tip of the spear for the federal government’s response to the reality crisis,” states the article.

“Ah, the Ministry of Truth. I’ve been waiting for this one,” responded Raheem Kassam.

Ah, the Ministry of Truth.

I’ve been waiting for this one. https://t.co/JZ7sN7BgGk

— Raheem Kassam (@RaheemKassam) February 2, 2021

While the Orwell comparison has become something of a clichĂŠ, in this instance its the best available.

In the book, the Ministry of Truth decides what is “truth” in Oceania no matter what the actual truth may be, and exercises this monopoly over reality by falsifying the nature of historical events.

The Ministry of Truth also uses this power monopoly to redefine the very word “truth” under the rubric of Newspeak, so “truth” becomes whatever the government-approved version of events is in that moment.

What the “experts” cited by the New York Times are calling far and what Orwell portrayed in his book are so similar, even Kevin Roose admits, “It sounds a little dystopian.”

But if “conspiracy theories” really do pose a deadly threat to society, who is responsible for pushing the most egregious disinformation?

As we have exhaustively documented – the most harmful “conspiracy theories,” – such as Saddam Hussein’s non-existent WMD’s and supporting “freedom fighters” who were actually jihadists in Libya and Syria – are always exclusively peddled by the mainstream media.

The corporate press pushing these two whoppers created the consensus for war that led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people and an international migrant crisis.

The New York Times was one of the most prominent outlets that amplified both these damaging deceptions and yet they faced no consequences whatsoever.

Such lies are also far more harmful to society because mainstream media networks have the biggest platforms, they are amplified by rigged social media platforms, and they share a common consensus narrative with each other, meaning there is almost no room for questioning or debate.

If there really was a truly independent “reality czar,” the media would be big trouble because its entire raison d’être is predicated around distorting reality.

Lawsuit Filed Against Denmark PM For COVID-19 Restrictions & Killing 17 Million Minks

(Not one single word in the Danish Main Stream Media) – SD

A major lawsuit has been filed against the PM of Denmark for strict COVID-19 restrictions and for killing almost 17 million minks. According to the lawsuit, authorities did not recommend a major shutdown, as the PM Mette Frederiksen claimed. It was herself and Barbara Bertelsen, the Prime Minister’s Head of Department, who would send alarm emails with attached articles from the media to the heads of department, creating the panic.

Danish PM accused of illegally killing 17 million minks

The Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has been accused by its citizens and advisory for strict COVID-19 restrictions which led to the killing of millions of minks related to the coronavirus mutation.

The strict lockdown measure which was implemented was also very unconstitutional and now she is under scanner for such tyrannical measures undertaken by her.

Advisory response to Epidemic Act

The harsh measures of the Epidemic Act for killing all the minks in Denmark with no authorization from authorities for lockdowns and also the unconstitutional corona restrictions has led the Danish Prime Minister under severe crucial litigation.

At the request of the Ministry of Health and the Elderly, the advisory of the Joint Council of Freedom Movement submitted a response to the Epidemic Act stating that the Danish population has been led astray by the Minister of Health.

At the same time the Ministry of Health has removed the word “Coercion” from the new bill and convened a consultation response with the help of the Empowerment Act of March 2020, and implemented a second law containing all the “necessary” provisions on coercion; namely BEK 36, which entered into force on 15 January this year.

The Advisory concluded that this was an expression of boundless infidelity. In their opinion, this new law is contrary to the Constitution, the ECHR and several other conventions.

The advisory further reinstated that such actions have created an insurmountable gap in the population between those who want to live in a state governed by law, and those who, by different, mainly unknown causes want to leave the path of democracy and human rights.

Citizens proposal against Danish PM

Danish citizens’ proposal to put the Prime Minister before a Supreme Court for illegal mink killing reached the parliament.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen had no legal authority to demand that all minks in Denmark be killed. A citizens’ proposal to put the Prime Minister before a Supreme Court on Thursday reached the required 50,000 supporters.

The government decided in November that all minks in Denmark should be killed. This was supposedly done to prevent the mutated coronavirus, which spread from minks to humans, from inhibiting the effect of a vaccine.

The decision to kill all minks, about 17 million, was announced by Mette Frederiksen at a press conference. Subsequently, it turned out that there was no legal authority to demand that all minks in Denmark be killed.

Misleading the nation creating panic

As per the lawsuit the Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen lied to the population and Parliament when stating that authorities had recommended lockdown which has misled everyone.

4 Democrat Conspiracy Theorists Who Should Be Denounced

At least 50 House Democrats have called for Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s expulsion from Congress for her alleged embracing of QAnon conspiracy theories. PJM’s Tyler O’Neil recently called on conservatives and Republicans “to condemn Greene’s previous statements on social media and demand an explanation for them.”

I’m not here to condone anything she has said in the past. The problem is that unless those calling for her to be removed from office apply the same standard amongst Democrats, you won’t get me to endorse any punitive action against her. Some of her allegedly violent rhetoric isn’t all that dissimilar to the rhetoric we’ve heard from Democrats about Trump. Congressman Bill Pascrell (D-N.J.) accused Trump of committing “innumerable crimes against the United States,” including “treason.” Rep. Seth Moulton (D-Mass.) accused Trump of treason over the debunked Russian bounties story. Many other Democrats, including pundits, activists, and the media, have accused Trump of treason for various things. Death is, by federal law, an accepted punishment for treason.

But forget that, I could pick a Democrat in Congress at random and find something repulsive about him or her that has equal if not more justification for their removal. Rep. Ilhan Omar’s views on 9/11 and her blatant anti-Semitism, in particular, come to mind. And how many times was Ted Kennedy reelected to the U.S. Senate after killing a woman?

But I digress. Violent rhetoric from the left is a topic for another time. As for Marjorie Taylor Greene’s embrace of conspiracy theories, Democrat “outrage” aimed at her is the epitome of hypocrisy. Democrats have plenty of conspiracy theorists amongst their ranks that somehow never get called out by their own party or the media. Truth be told, the entire Democratic Party is guilty of pushing the conspiracy theory that Trump colluded with Russia to steal the 2016 election, but here are four Democrats who specifically deserve to be denounced for spreading ridiculous conspiracy theories.

  1. Rep. Maxine Waters

Maxine Waters’s status as a kook is hardly a secret. As Larry Elder recently wrote, Waters “falsely blames President Ronald Reagan’s CIA for playing a major role in the urban crack-cocaine epidemic. Waters even wrote a foreword for a book called ‘Dark Alliance,’ that made this sensational claim.” Elder pointed out that despite being anti-Reagan publications, the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post all disputed Waters’ assertion, and that “The San Jose Mercury News, the newspaper that published the CIA-crack cocaine allegation, issued a retraction of the most serious claims. The reporter resigned, and later, at age 49, committed suicide.”

But Maxine Waters has dabbled in many conspiracy theories. Back in July, she shocked MSNBC’s Joy Reid by floating the bizarre conspiracy theory that Trump’s sending federal agents to Portland to control the riots was “a trial run by [President Trump] who may be organizing to not accept what happens when we have the election if he’s not elected.”

“Is he going to pull out his military? Is he going to engage us? He has already alluded to there may be a civil war if he’s not re-elected. This is dangerous,” Waters said.

Needless to say, her conspiracy theory proved to be absolutely false.

  1. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Famed squad member AOC is also no stranger to absurd conspiracy theories. Last year she claimed the Republican Party’s goal was to “dismantle” our “democracy, our institutions, and our republic.” But more recently she floated the absurd conspiracy theory that Republican members of Congress gave “suspicious tours” of the Capitol the day before the riot took place. She wasn’t alone in pushing this conspiracy theory either. Thirty members of Congress submitted a letter to the House Sergeant-at-Arms, the Senate Sergeant-at-Arms, and the Capitol Police to request an investigation into alleged “suspicious tours” that they had no evidence of, and there still is no evidence that Republicans in Congress were involved in any fashion with the breach at the Capitol.

How Treason And Thought crime Are Easier Than Ever In Biden’s America

President Joe Biden is supplementing his calls for national unity with fervent denunciations of extremists, insurrectionists, and domestic terrorists, as well as comparing Senate opponents to Nazi propagandist Joseph Goebbels.

Biden is now in charge of the world’s largest law firm – the U.S. Justice Department – as well as armies of federal enforcement agents. Biden and his Democratic allies have the tools to assure a steady stream of denunciations and indictments in the coming years against Americans targeted for their political beliefs.

Democrats are already vastly expanding the only crime defined by the Constitution – treason. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi declared that Republicans who signaled they would not ratify the Electoral College results earlier this month “gave aid and comfort to [protestors] with the idea that they were embracing a lie… that the election did not have legitimacy.”

As law professor Jonathan Turley noted, Pelosi’s use of “the treason language in the Constitution” suggests that Republican members were more than just politically at fault… they were traitors.” A court of law would never convict Republican members of treason, but Pelosi can convict them in the court of public opinion, thanks to the hanging judges at CNN and MSNBC.

Opposing Biden becomes the equivalent of opposing democracy, and fuels demands for expelling more than a hundred Republicans from Congress.

After the clash at the Capitol on January 6, President-elect Joe Biden declared that the action of the rioters “borders on sedition.” (Actually, Republican members of Congress who objected to the Electoral College verdict were being denounced as the “sedition caucus” even before January 6).

Federal prosecutor Michael Sherwin, who is handling the January 6 cases, said he has given other federal lawyers “marching orders… to build seditious and conspiracy charges” against the most abusive rioters. The federal Seditious Conspiracy statute declares that if two or more persons conspire to “oppose by force the authority [of the U.S. government], or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law… or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States… they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.”

This is a sweeping legal drift net that could spur 20-year prison sentences for anyone who helped the dude who proudly carried off Nancy Pelosi’s lectern. Many members of Congress want all of the 800 protestors harshly punished for “desecrating” the “temple” of democracy, their “hallowed halls,” and their “sacred space” — even though most of those present committed no violence and left peacefully of their own accord after a few hours.

There are ample federal laws to vigorously prosecute and harshly punish the people who violently attacked Capitol Police. But blanket charges of sedition against protestors who were guilty merely of unlawful entry would mean scourging them as if they were political heretics.

While it is unclear how many protestors will be charged with sedition, reliance on that legal penalty blew up prior administrations. The Sedition Act of 1798 briefly helped President John Adams persecute newspaper editors who criticized his policies, but outrageous prosecutions helped Thomas Jefferson defeat Adams in the 1800 election.

China Suspected In Hack Of US Federal Payroll Agency Using SolarWind Exploit

Just days after China sent a not-so-subtle warning to Taiwan regarding independence (and by extension, to US President Joe Biden), inside sources at the FBI are leaking details about another cyberattack linked to Solarwind, which made headlines in December after operatives believed to be sponsored by the Russian government used an exploit to compromise classified systems.

This time, however, the villain is China - which federal agents believe used the same SolarWinds exploit as the suspected Russians to break into US government computers and access an unknown quantity of data, according to "five people familiar with the matter."

One of the agencies believed to have been hacked by China is the National Finance Center, an obscure agency in the federal government that handles payroll and other sensitive data. It's housed within the Department of Agriculture, but contains information from employees across the federal government.

Two people briefed on the case said FBI investigators recently found that the National Finance Center, a federal payroll agency inside the U.S. Department of Agriculture, was among the affected organizations, raising fears that data on thousands of government employees may have been compromised.

The software flaw exploited by the suspected Chinese group is separate from the one the United States has accused Russian government operatives of using to compromise up to 18,000 SolarWinds customers, including sensitive federal agencies, by hijacking the company’s Orion network monitoring software. -Reuters

Security experts have long suspected a second actor was involved in the series of SolarWinds breaches, however this is the first report naming China as another bad actor.

The USDA acknowledged the hack to Reuters, while the Chinese foreign ministry parried - instead claiming that the hack was a "complex technical issue," and any allegations should be supported with evidence. "China resolutely opposes and combats any form of cyberattacks and cyber theft," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

SolarWinds, meanwhile, said it was aware of a single customer that was compromised by the second set of hackers but that it had “not found anything conclusive” to suggest who was responsible.

Authorities only fingered the Chinese hackers within the past few weeks, adding to the body of evidence that SolarWinds' cybersecurity was seriously lacking - which is disturbing for a company with such a powerful list of corporate and government clients.
