Per slv prospectus, they do buy physical ag and it can be redeemed. Granted that is a huge pain and you have to redeem a lot and have storage set up etc, but buying slv does force the trust to buy physical.
And anyone who trades slv and gld and the mining market knows it whipsaws like crazy. just keep buying physical and buy on the big paper dips if you are going the electronic route.
