you must remember that real pepole have invested their lives in these. So that's sucky if they lose it all because someone wants to game that particular stock that week.
so they do it with funds and other sources. They lump the stocks so they can run one up, game another down, and the 'fund' evens out.

to answer those questions you must ask "what game are they playing"
when you realize that 'm,ost are good" you get to a place of understanding. The stock people, for the most part, don't like all the gaming either unless they are 'playing' too.
but if you have families and friends who depend on your thoughts for what is useful to buy and hold, and the choices are made and then one of them is gamed . . . that tends to make people say 'humm, mayb some regulation is needed'
so then you have phonies in grifters in the 'regulatorrii-naughty'. they are 'naughty regulators'. they set up graft for themselves through 'regulation' (witness it during the Barry years in DC, lizzy warmong . . . )
anyway so ya, if you were buying Gamestop so that there would be a large group who could vote for the company to have sensible guidance, and rules to proceed and to allow interaction with customers and regulators . . . and bankers and lenders . . . then whatever the price is, you dont' care.
the company has been so badly mismanaged and looted that . . . the price is a fiction anyway.
if you were only gaming and wanted to make cash, and you bought in at 300 and it's at 90 : you only loose if you sell.
commodities are a bit different.

learn about 'dividend reinvesting' and find a stock or two that you can follow.
then learn when the prices is manipulated (by the usual process of buying and selling) and see that it is a particular time of year and time of month (you can look at spikes to buy and sell in long term data).
then decide your strategy.
