Jen Psaki, the spokeswoman for the State Department, is headed back to the White House as the new communications director.
Psaki will replace Jennifer Palmieri, who’s to oversee communications for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.
Psaki will start April 1.
A White House official called her “the obvious and first choice for this role.”
White House aides often talk about “keeping it in the family,” and Psaki is yet another example, like President Barack Obama’s decision last month to replace John Podesta with longtime aide Brian Deese as a senior adviser. Psaki’s Obama ties go back to the 2008 campaign, and in the president’s first term she was deputy press secretary, and then deputy communications director.
