Rather than ruling one's own world, perhaps it was worth a try surrendering to God and seeing if that alleviated your gender dysphoria? I mean, I doubt there has been a study (they'd never study that) but I think it might have been worth a go, rather all the heartache and medical interventions required to accomplish not so much.
