You would still need a vehicle to transmit the information back in time for it to be written down.

If you can't alter the future by transmitting information into the past to branch off into a new timeline, why go through the trouble?
Is it a time machine, or is it the ability to see the possible branches of the time line based on decisions that are made?
You then have a choice of what decision to make for that specific timeline.
You still have the Free Will to do it, or not do it.
Tourism makes sense. I would hope it could be used to fix the future and make the world a better place. But that's just me…
