The afterlife is something that has been contemplated by all groups of peoples throughout the history of human kind. Why? Because we have a spiritual soul. Animals do not have a spiritual soul, they are not a part of the spiritual world, there is no afterlife for them, so they do not contemplate such things.

Being a part of the Spiritual world is what makes us Human. Being created in God's image, being spiritual in nature, is what makes us Human. Having a knowledge of spirituality and an afterlife is what makes us Human.
