Haitian President Jovenel Moïse says police have arrested more than 20 people he accused of trying to kill him and overthrow his government, including a Supreme Court judge who has the support of opposition leaders demanding that Moïse step down

The arrests come on the day that opposition leaders claim Moïse should resign, saying that his term ends on Sunday. Moïse has repeatedly stated that his five-year term ends in February 2022. Former President Michel Martelly’s term ended in 2016, but a chaotic election forced the appointment of a provisional president for one year untilMoïse was sworn in in 2017.

Modernising Haiti's civil registry

In January 2010, a massive earthquake struck Haiti. In order to help the rebuilding process and improve the existing public service infrastructure, fresh information about the characteristics of the population became utterly necessary.

In November 2012, the Government of Haiti and Smartmatic partnered to modernize Haiti's Civil Registry and Identity System.

This project, conceived as a knowledge and technology transfer program, endowed Haiti not only with state-of-the-art technology, but also with all the required know-how to continue developing its civil registry and identity system.

looks who is involved in HAITI ELECTIONS, as well as many other countries…..IFES, International Foundation for Electoral Systems

The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) has been supporting Haiti’s electoral and democratic processes for the past three decades. Through the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), IFES has been working to build the capacity of the Haitian electoral management body and civil society to ensure the sustainable management of elections and increase civic participation and the inclusion of marginalized groups in the country’s political processes.

IFES is committed to supporting a Haitian-led approach, standing behind partners to ensure the local ownership, efficacy, political legitimacy and sustainability of the electoral reforms and new practices. Activities are based on an adaptive approach, tailored to achieve the program’s expected results while maintaining its flexibility and ability to take advantage of opportunities that might arise from the country’s continuous political changes.

Current Project

Elections and Political Processes Support Activity

In 2017, IFES started a new phase of its work in Haiti with the implementation of the Elections and Political Processes (EPP) Support Activity, a five-year program funded by USAID through the Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening.

For this project, IFES is focusing especially on supporting the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), Haiti’s electoral management body. The CEP has recently made significant strides to increase the transparency and efficacy of the country’s electoral process, but it continues to face significant obstacles in building its technical capacity and overcoming the population’s entrenched lack of trust in the management of elections. The EPP program aims at building greater confidence in electoral processes by supporting Haitian-led efforts to strengthen the electoral institutions, political parties, and civil society.

An Intriguing Email About the Clintons, Smartmatic and Elections

By Nick Arama | Dec 17, 2020

A little background into who some of the players in the email are. Cheryl Mills was Hillary Clinton’s State Department chief of staff and her right hand. Laura Graham was the former Clinton Foundation chief operating officer. Bob Nash was former senior advisor, James Lee Witt Associates, as well as a long time association with Bill Clinton from back to his Arkansas days. He was also a deputy campaign manager for the Hillary Clinton Campaign for President.

The email appears to be discussion about obtaining a contractorfor running elections in Haiti and the suggestion is Smartmatic from Nash.Graham responds that BC (Bill Clinton) “cannot engage” on this issue. But then Graham suggests he talk to Cheryl Mills about it.
