I can only speak for myself and not for you, but what you said sounds very much like the situation many anons I have talked to find themselves in.
They have had trouble connecting with others all their life and then met one person that completely turned their world upside down as they proved to them that the kind of love they have always been searching for since they were a child does exist. The kind of love they had given up hope for and become jaded, accepted that it is just not how this life works.
The time together with that person is pure bliss and ecstasy. It completely releases all fear and doubt to be with that person as you feel loved on a level so deep that nothing bad that happens to you matters in comparison.
Then, that person inexplicably leaves your life and something in you breaks. You try to make sense of it with the skills of logic that have brought you very far in this life.
You were successful in the past in getting over hurtful relationships. But this time it`s different. Even though you have never felt greater pain than being abandoned by that person, it seems that nothing will ever be able to remove that experience from your mind and that person from your heart.
You find yourself at a crossroads…
