Man attacks officer with screwdriver at gun range, gets shot dead by multiple people
According to Captain Jamie Prosser with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, on February 3rd at about 12:50 p.m., a suspect entered The Range 702 gun range in the 6000 block of Dean Martin Drive, near Russell Road.
Captain Prosser stated that the suspect “began to cause a disturbance,” and was asked to leave. Several citizens inside the gun range followed the man out into the parking lot where they waited with him until Metro officers arrived.
When 34-year-old officer Andrew Nguyen approached the man, he pulled out a screwdriver and “violently attacked” the officer, Fox5 Vegas reported.
Three citizens from the gun range and the officer’s partner fired multiple rounds, striking and killing the suspect. He was pronounced dead on scene.
