Ah horseshit. It's been fucked up for a LOT longer than Trump was President. A LOT longer. Trump wasn't President for either the tech OR the housing bubble and those are the events that catapulted these hedge funds into prominence.
The tech bubble cost me my savings (<$50,000 while I was driving to work) and my neighbor his house that he had put SO much money and work into. He really dressed up the place, but ended up living in a really slummy / gangy part of town.
