I sincerely hope this Apple business of recent means Q is about to take on the tech giants. Because otherwise we're screwed in the long run, no matter what is accomplished in other matters…

The tech giants have spun a technological web of absolute control around the world. If nothing is done, we will enter a future where ALL information technology is locked down from the hardware up. Walled gardens everywhere, all under control by a tiny elite of owners.

The fact you can't post on 8ch with an iOS device should bring the point home - imagine if all we had was Apple devices, Google devices, and Microsoft devices! Imagine if Linux and the idea of openness in software goes the way of the dodo, simply because NO OPEN HARDWARE IS MANUFACTURED ANYMORE. Imagine if the only way to run a piece of software, is to get the controllers' blessing to do so.

That's the ultimate dystopian future. A future where humanity is locked down forever with no hope of escaping, because everyone is dependent on the system, and no-one can challenge the system, since the system controls all resources and has a monopoly on information.

That's the permanent enslavement scenario, and we're heading there fast, unless something is done about it real soon.

It doesn't matter if iPhones are manufactured in China, in the US, or on the moon. They still remain locked-down devices.

In a world running on software, any real freedom absolutely requires open hardware and software platforms! Apple is one of the greatest threats here, because all they do is designed to take absolute control. It was recently revealed they intend to change to ARM CPU's of their own manufacturing by 2020. This means the very hardware in Apple computers will become locked down on a level where no software can break it.

Google make chromebooks that are also meant to remove control from the users. Same thing with Microsoft, they all push HARD to end the era of free competition and open commodity hardware!

And with that ends the era of human freedom as we knew it.
