Autobahn's a fun drive. Lived in Germany 4 years. One thing you learn is not to go slow. Must drive fast speed along with others or faster. Slow is deadly there. 50, 70, 100 car pile-ups not uncommon and frequently fatal. And fucking long traffic jams. Stressful driving as well, because you have to be so alert at those speeds, but fun in less traffic.

They do go pretty fast there. But nothing like the autobahn. 140 km/hr normal for most drivers. Many still fly by at far upwards of that.

I picked up my car coming from US, in Bremerhaven in the far north. Drove back to Bavaria (ended up taking 2 days) and my first experience even though driving quite fast was looking in my rearview mirror and seeing no one (flat) for what seemed like a couple miles behind me, at one point. Next thing you know there are blinking headlights in my rear-view mirror. The car coming up behind was letting me know he was driving so damn fast that I shouldn't dare move into the other lane or get in his way. He passed me at probably over 200km/hr and was gone in the blink of an eye. Amazing.

And because of those high speeds their autobahn's are in superb condition. One pothole could kill you at those speeds.
