I wasn't inferring anything other than it being coincidental that Jesuit training is 17 years. I suppose if we're going to be nitpicky about it, "Up to" 17 years would be most accurate since some periods of training do fluctuate depending on the scholar.
I really don't know much about modern day Jesuits, Freemasons, Knights Templar, etc, but I do know that power corrupts and it's possible that not everything is well-defined in black and white paint strokes. It would be hard to amass the best minds the world has to offer when you're working synergistically toward uncouth or even illegitimate ends. Most people seem to have a desire to benefit the world, but perhaps at the upper ends of intelligence that desire fades. I wouldn't know as I'm a bit of an idiot.
