A) they are actually in an elaborate scheme to mark all good people for destruction and we may be able to make an effective counter with the right blessings and luck. If this is the case will you cave to get along or stand for what's right to the end?

B) what we see at face value is correct. Then it comes down to which camp actually has the advantage and to what extent do they know they have the advantage if they know at all? It would seem if a side had supreme and total advantage they would have the luxury of time to maximize their gains. If a side had a high advantage but not absolute, they would probably want to wear the weaker side down with goose chases that cost them dearly… which also takes time.
