Georgia SOS: 35 voter fraud cases referred for criminal prosecution

The Secretary of State's Office confirmed Thursday that the Board referred 35 cases to the attorney general or to local district attorneys.

“Election fraud is not tolerated in Georgia. When there is evidence of it, the people responsible face prosecution,” said Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, chairman of the five-member board.

The SOS investigation department has 23 officers who have experience as investigators as well as the power to arrest. They work to investigate claims of voting fraud and then hand their findings over to the board. The board can then issue fines, a letter of instruction, or send a case to be prosecuted.
