President Biden Issues Proclamation to Terminate National Emergency at US Border With Mexico

The national emergency on the US southern border was declared by former President Trump in 2019. It was revoked by his successor Joe Biden on his first day in office, who also halted the construction of the notorious border wall.

US President Joe Biden has issued a proclamation ending the national emergency on the US-Mexico border.

In a letter to the speaker of the House and president of the Senate, published on the White House's official site, the president wrote that the emergency at the southern border was "unwarranted".

"I hereby report to the Congress that the national emergency declared by Proclamation 9844, and continued on February 13, 2020, and January 15, 2021, is terminated and that the authorities invoked in that proclamation will no longer be used to construct a wall at the southern border", the letter said.

Biden's predecessor, Donald Trump, declared in 2019 a national emergency on the southern border to divert funds for the construction of a border wall. Just days before leaving the White House, Trump prolonged the state of emergency to 2022.

However, on his first day as US president, Joe Biden signed executive orders to end construction of the US-Mexico border wall and to override the so-called "Muslim travel ban".

Building a wall on the US-Mexican border was one of Trump's core campaign promises. The US leader has repeatedly said the wall helps to curb illegal immigration, human and drug trafficking. The former president promised that Mexico would fund the project, which did not happen.

Witness Says Man Who Died of Heart Attack on Jan 6 Was Shot In Face By Capitol Police Projectile

An witness of the Capitol Hill protests on January 6 reveals that Kevin Greeson, an unarmed pro-Trump protester who died of a heart attack during the day’s events, was struck in the eye by high-velocity paintball-style projectiles fired by Capitol Hill police prior to his death.

National File Citizen Journalist Roger Farina obtained an interview on January 6 with a witness who was standing directly next to Greeson at the time of the latter’s death, and National File is now exclusively releasing this interview on Thursday.

“So we’re all marching down… we’re just walking up, just walking around the nice little Reflection Pool, and all of a sudden you just hear crazy stuff, paint balls start flying, they’re pepper ball paint balls, and then all the sudden people are breaking over the barriers, and people who are sitting there, peacefully demonstrating, they just get lit up with the paint ball,” the witness, who asked National File not to reveal his name, recounted.

“One of the guys who got hit, he couldn’t start breathing, he collapsed, and that’s when we [were] just like, ‘Paramedic, paramedic!’ No paramedics are going to come in,” the witness said. “We had to make a hole and try to drag him out. Some other paramedics went in, the DC police were firing on them, and anybody else who was in the area. Flash bangs were going off, a minimum of 30 flash bangs, and people are getting hit.”

The witness confirmed that the protests leading up to Greeson’s death were wholly peaceful in nature, stating, “It was definitely peaceful, and I’m like, ‘Wait that was a fence’, and that’s when I realized the dude next to me [was hit] square right in the eye with a paint ball pepper ball, he just dropped.”

“You could smell it in the air, you could feel the balls just going everywhere,” the witness added. “Peaceful dude, he wasn’t stealing or nothing. Dropped, heart attack. They did CPR there, and then we made a hole.”

Greeson, 55, was a resident of Athens, Alabama. His family described him in a statement as “an advocate of President Trump” who “attended the event on January 6, 2020, to show his support,” noting that “He was not there to participate in violence or rioting, nor did he condone such actions.”

Despite media claims that the Capitol Hill protests were an “insurrection” that intended harm against elected officials, no members of Congress or the Secret Service were injured, while four pro-Trump protesters were killed or died as a result of physical trauma incurred during the day’s events, and one police officer is believed to have died after an allergic reaction to the same type of pepper ball projectiles that our witness says led to Greeson’s death.

Ted Cruz: You can blame the Trump administration for not reining in Big Tech censorship

'I could never get the people in the administration executing the policy to get serious about stopping censorship'

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz (Texas) told BlazeTV host Steven Crowder on Thursday that some of the blame for Republicans' failure to rein in Big Tech censorship over the past four years should be directed toward members of the Trump administration.

Cruz — who has been one of the leading voices in Congress raising the alarm about the brazen censorship practices of Big Tech monopolies such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube — explained to Crowder that addressing the issue through the legislative branch is nothing short of a pipe dream.

"In Congress, all of the Democrats are opposed to doing anything about Big Tech, they want them to use their monopoly power to silence and destroy their enemies," Cruz said. "So you've got half the Congress that is fully in bed with Big Tech. You then have half the Republicans that are just scared of doing much of anything.

"When you've got all the Democrats and half the Republicans on the other side [against legislation], you don't have the votes to move something through Congress," he continued. "So I've proposed all sorts of things, they ain't going to move because the votes aren't there.

"The only hope was the executive branch," Cruz argued.

But according to the Texas senator, the executive branch under Trump, though perhaps willing, was ultimately unable to generate substantive reform.

"Look, Trump understood that Big Tech was a problem, he wanted to do something about it. The rest of his administration couldn't actually effectively execute," Cruz said. "I could never get the people in the administration executing the policy to get serious about stopping censorship."

Cruz said despite countless meetings he held with senior members of the Trump administration, during which he outlined the steps they should take, the issue was never advanced.

Nevertheless, he explained, "that's the only way we're going to get it done, is with an executive who is ready to act and knows how to act."

Crowder responded by pointing out that if half of the Republicans in Congress are not willing to go to work on the issue, then those lawmakers should be identified and voted out of office.

Both characterized the issue of Big Tech censorship as one of the most important currently facing the country and both agreed, now that the Democratic Party has assumed power, it will be "open season" on conservatives or any dissenting voices, for that matter.
