LHO was a deep cover agent for the ONI and after his “false defection” failure, he was tasked to infiltrate the CIA-run anti-Castro Cuban Rebel training operations in Florida and New Orleans. He was ostensibly accepted into Guy Bannister’s (Poppy’s) ranks but he was blown probably by a CIA mole within the ONI. JFK tasked Bobby to infiltrate and break up this illegal training which JFK opposed after he was set up with the Bay of Pigs fiasco. LHO was actually working for RFK, indirectly, and by setting his up as the Patsy who killed his Brother, the CIA effectively neutered Bobby on the way out the door as AG.
