President Trump Releases Statement On Second Impeachment Acquittal

We have so much work ahead of us, and soon we will emerge with a vision for a bright, radiant, and limitless American future," he wrote. "Together there is nothing we cannot accomplish."

President Donald Trump, through the Office of the Former President, released a statement celebrating his second Senate impeachment acquittal, which happened only moments ago.

“I want to first thank my team of dedicated lawyers and others for their tireless work upholding justice and defending truth,” wrote President Trump. “My deepest thanks as well to all of the United States Senators and Members of Congress who stood proudly for the Constitution we all revere and for the sacred legal principles at the heart of our country.”

“Our cherished Constitutional Republic was founded on the impartial rule of law, the indispensable safeguard for our liberties, our rights and our freedoms,” he added. “It is a sad commentary on our times that one political party in America is given a free pass to denigrate the rule of law, defame law enforcement, cheer mobs, excuse rioters, and transform justice into a tool of political vengeance, and persecute, blacklist, cancel and suppress all people and viewpoints with whom or which they disagree. I always have, and always will, be a champion for the unwavering rule of law, the heroes of law enforcement, and the right of Americans to peacefully and honorably debate the issues of the day without malice and without hate.”

President Trump compared the impeachment trial to the previous “witch hunts” he faced, referring to the wasteful Mueller report, and the thinly constructed impeachment trial over hearsay regarding a call to Ukraine’s leaders.

“This has been yet another phase of the greatest witch hunt in the history of our Country. No president has ever gone through anything like it, and it continues because our opponents cannot forget the almost 75 million people, the highest number ever for a sitting president, who voted for us just a few short months ago,” wrote President Trump.”

The former President then thanked his “millions” of supporters who stood by him through the latest attempt to destroy his character.

“I also want to convey my gratitude to the millions of decent, hardworking, law-abiding, God-and-Country loving citizens who have bravely supported these important principles in these very difficult and challenging times,” wrote President Trump. “Our historic, patriotic and beautiful movement to Make America Great Again has only just begun. In the months ahead I have much to share with you, and I look forward to continuing our incredible journey together to achieve American greatness for all of our people. There has never been anything like it!”

“We have so much work ahead of us, and soon we will emerge with a vision for a bright, radiant, and limitless American future,” he wrote. “Together there is nothing we cannot accomplish.”

“We remain one People, one family, and one glorious nation under God, and it’s our responsibility to preserve this magnificent inheritance for our children and for generations of Americans to come. May God bless all of you, and may God forever bless the United States of America.”

Ted Cruz Reveals Submitted Questions Not Asked: ‘Can We Build Keystone Pipeline if We Add Hunter Biden to the Board?’

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) revealed Saturday several questions his colleagues submitted that House impeachment managers did not entertain.

“Can we build the Keystone Pipeline if we add Hunter Biden to the board?” read one, according to Cruz.

That was referring to President Joe Biden’s cancellation of the pipeline that would deliver energy from Canada to American refineries. Biden’s move ended 11,000 union jobs.

The wrinkle of Hunter Biden refers to the president’s son landing a lucrative position on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, despite no experience in energy production or knowledge of the language.

Cruz revealed another question involving the uncomfortable past of Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA):

“To Manager Swalwell: Tell us about Fang Fang,” it said.

Fang Fang, also known as Christine Fang, was a suspected Chinese spy with whom Swalwell is accused of engaging in sexual relations.

Another question a senator submitted that was in the same vein:

“Have any of the House Managers had sexual relations with a Chinese communist spy? Please explain,” it said.

Breitbart News reported in December that several Democrats, including Swalwell, had developed “extensive ties” with Fang, who is no longer in the country.

According to Axios, Fang burrowed her way into Swalwell’s political circle:

Fang took part in fundraising activity for Swalwell’s 2014 re-election campaign, according to a Bay Area political operative and a current U.S. intelligence official. Swalwell’s office was directly aware of these activities on its behalf, the political operative said. That same political operative, who witnessed Fang fundraising on Swalwell’s behalf, found no evidence of illegal contributions.

Federal Election Commission records don’t indicate Fang herself made donations, which are prohibited from foreign nationals. Fang helped place at least one intern in Swalwell’s office, according to those same two people, and interacted with Swalwell at multiple events over the course of several years.

A statement from Swalwell’s office provided to Axios said: ‘Rep. Swalwell, long ago, provided information about this person — whom he met more than eight years ago, and whom he hasn’t seen in nearly six years — to the FBI. To protect information that might be classified, he will not participate in your story.’

In January, Swalwell told CNN the allegations were “retaliation more than anything else.”

Andrews denies government, health authorities to blame for quarantine failures

Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews has denied his government or health authorities are to blame for a nebuliser being used by an individual that saw cases of the hyper-infectious UK strain spread in the state's hotel quarantine system.

The Premier was grilled by reporters for his continual reticence to suggest anyone was culpable for the state's repeated failings, refusing to comment on the individual in question who claims he had twice told staff about his nebuliser.

"I've seen those reports. That's not consistent with the normal practice that's followed but I can confirm the head of CQV will be out later today… she'll be able to answer any of those questions," he said.

Sky News Melbourne Reporter Gabriella Power pointed to comments the CQV head made that the man did not report the nebuliser to the hotel, including comments Mr Andrews made he thought the individual may not have been aware he was doing the wrong thing.

"CQV are the people to answer for that… You're putting a contention to me and I don't agree with that… I go off the advice that's provided to me," the premier said.

"I'm not reflecting on the person. I don't think that's fair.

"I'd encourage people to be based in the facts, and the facts are this is a precautionary approach, based on the best advice."

Crown Casino: Chinese triad rumours that sunk billionaire James Packer’s casino bid

Sons of two “domineering” fathers, the partnership of Lawrence Ho and James Packer should’ve been lightning in a bottle. Instead, it was a death knell.

Lawrence Ho, the Macau-based casino operator and son of the flamboyant “godfather” of Asia’s largest gaming empire, and James Packer, the billionaire Australian businessman and investor.

Bound by the “stunning returns from their Asian casinos and their shared experience of being raised by a domineering father”, the men were friends, confidantes and business partners, so close they referred to each other as “brother”.

During a lucrative joint venture that lasted 11 years, Mr Packer’s Crown Resorts and Mr Ho’s Melco Resorts built a casino business in Macau and Manila that earned Crown roughly $4.5 billion.

For Mr Packer, it was a stunning return of almost six times his investment. But for Mr Ho, “getting out of working with my family and my father’s company was worth any price”, he said in an interview for Damon Kitney’s 2018 Packer biography, The Price of Fortune.

In 2019, when Mr Ho’s Melco Resorts group signed a $1.8 billion deal to buy 20 per cent of Crown, lightning should’ve struck twice for the duo’s Melco Crown.

Instead, the deal helped spark the inquiry that would forever tarnish Mr Packer’s credibility and could now force him to either sell his Crown stake or frantically make over his entire corporate entity.

CONNECTIONS TO FLAMBOYANT ‘GODFATHER’ WITH TRIAD TIES

Long before Mr Packer and Mr Ho became pals, when the NSW Government first entertained the idea of building a casino back in the 1980s, there was one man black-listed from ever having any involvement.

Stanley Ho was the flamboyant “godfather” of Macau casinos, renowned for steering gaming in the autonomous Chinese region to eclipse Las Vegas and survived by the 14 children – one of them Lawrence Ho – he had fathered with four wives when he died last May.

Making his first fortune before the age of 24 smuggling goods into China while collaborating with the Japanese, Stanley was credited with transforming Macau into the world’s biggest casino centre.

For all his success, however, Stanley was plagued by reports of his ties to members of the 14K and Sun Yee On triads – the feared Chinese organised crime syndicates – and accusations of money laundering.

“There is no doubt that by virtue of the setups of the VIP rooms, Stanley has interacted with individuals that are members of triads,” MGM vice-president of corporate security, Kyle Edwards, stated in 2003.

In 2009, a damning assessment by New Jersey gaming authorities into his sister, Pansy Ho, reported that “numerous governmental and regulatory agencies have referenced Stanley Ho’s associations with criminal enterprises, including permitting organised crime to operate and thrive within his casinos”.

While Stanley was never arrested or convicted – and repeatedly denied his links to the triads – he did not deny the allegations that his casino’s VIP rooms were used by the syndicates to launder money when the claim was put to him in 2007 by The New York Times.

Instead, he said that during the 1980s and 1990s, “anyone involved in gaming was vulnerable to such accusations”.

7.1-magnitude earthquake in Japan’s Fukushima leaves thousands without power

The earthquake shook buildings in the capital Tokyo and elsewhere, but no tsunami warning was issued

About 950,000 households were hit by blackouts and there were no irregularities at the Fukushima nuclear facility

A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.1 hit off the coast of eastern Japan

on Saturday, shaking buildings and triggering widespread blackouts, but there appeared to be no major damage and no tsunami warning was issued.

The epicentre of the earthquake was off the coast of Fukushima prefecture at a depth of 60km (36 miles), near the epicentre of a 2011 killer quake which triggered a towering tsunami and killed more than 18,000, the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) said.

The earthquake, which hit at 11.08pm local time, and shook buildings in the capital Tokyo and elsewhere. The Meteorological Agency said no tsunami warning had been issued.

Saturday’s quake was followed by aftershocks, including a 4.7 magnitude jolt, JMA said.

About 950,000 households were without power, government spokesman Katsunobu Kato told a briefing carried on public broadcaster NHK. He said there were no irregularities at two nuclear facilities, Fukushima Dai-ichi and Onagawa. Authorities were still checking at Fukushima Dai-ichi, he said.

NHK said there were no reports of irregularities at another nuclear facility at Tokaimura, in Ibaraki prefecture.

Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga was called to his office, and broadcaster NHK said the government would set up a special liaison office to coordinate with affected regions.

Chief Cabinet Secretary Katsunobu Kato addressed reporters after midnight and said evaluations were under way.

“As far as damage, casualties and structural damage are being assessed,” he said, adding that sections of the bullet train had been suspended because of power outages.

“Surveys are being done at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant,” he said

“We have received reports that Onagawa nuclear plant and Fukushima Daichi nuclear plant are not showing any abnormality,” he added.

The quake hit off of Fukushima just weeks before the 10-year anniversary of the March 11, 2011, quake that devastated northeast Japan and triggered a massive tsunami that led to the world’s worst nuclear crisis in a quarter of a century – one centred at the Dai-ichi facility.

Japan sits on the Pacific “Ring of Fire”, an arc of intense seismic activity that stretches through Southeast Asia and across the Pacific basin.

The country is regularly hit by quakes, and has strict construction regulations intended to ensure buildings can withstand strong tremors.

In September 2018, a powerful 6.6-magnitude quake rocked Hokkaido, triggering landslides, collapsing houses and killing more than 40.

"Power Bills To The Moon": Chaos, Shock As Electricity Prices Across US Explode

On Thursday, when we reported that nat gas prices across the plains states had soared to never before seen levels as a result of a brutal polar vortex blast…

… which literally froze off nattie supply as wellheads freeze-offs, cutting production receipts just when they're most needed by customers' demand for heating, we said that since the winter blast is expected to last for the duration of the week, it is likely that nattie prices across the plains states could hit GME batshit levels.

One day later that's exactly what happened because as frigid temperatures caused equipment failures, temporarily shutdowns and flaring in at least four nat gas processing plants …

Targa Resources’ Benedum Gas Plant in Upton County affected for 7 hours overnight, co. said in a filing

Occidental Petroleum’s Bennett Ranch Unit RCF Facility in Yoakum County, which is used for EOR, was affected for 9 hours Thursday: filing

DCP Midstream’s Goldsmith Gas Plant in Ector County affected for 1 hour Thursday: filing

Occidental’s nearby gas plant, another EOR facility, was affected by DCP Midstream incident: filing

… we hit the proverbial offerless market where any natgas that was available would be purchased at virtually any price, which is why midcontinent prices such as the Oneok OGT nat gas spot exploded from $3.46 one week ago, to $9 on Wednesday, $60.28 on Thursday and an insane $377.13 on Friday, up 32,000% in a few days. This is one of those places where having a limit up circuit breaker could actually be useful, even though there simply is nowhere near enough product to satisfy demand at any price hence the explosive move.
