I got to watch ANG pilots practicing from the tower at a gunnery range near Sumter, SC.
F-102s and F-106s came in by pairs, pop pop pop, flew on out. Another pair, more pop pop pop.
Then it stopped. I turned to the Range Master and said, "What's going on?" He said, "Watch."
From behind the treeline an A-10 appeared. rolled into line, and destroyed the target.
"Goddamit! That truck could last me a month with other fighters, and Warthogs kill it in a day!"
