Plankton is pumped full of energy by sunlight, right? Like a solar powered photovoltaic cell, but a lot less complicated, and they grow on their own?
So then when the poop drops and microscopic little organisms die, and compost… into preserved “oil”… we burn it and the plankton and bacteria eat the carbon again with more sunlight. Like a cycle of life, or something. Amirite?
But how much petroleum do you need to burn to make photovoltaic cells that don’t even lifetime return the watts needed to make them in the first place from nature’s solar battery juice?
So we’re back to that false notion that there is only a finite, limited, irreplaceable quantity of the precious juice?
The ONLY downside to ‘tapping’ the clearly renewable solar battery juice, would be using it too fast and carelessly disrupting too much regolith is a sloppy manner (pollution)?

Nearly thirty year old 7.3 International which can better 20MPG under load with diesel. Diesel to Gas ratio from crude adjusted for efficiency, AND pollution, kinda kills further argumentation.
