Washington to Organize Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova to Challenge Russia in the Black Sea

One of Washington’s main strategic objectives is to consolidate and organize Eastern European states to oppose and contain Russia. Supporting Black Sea countries against Russia has become a major American priority as Turkey is now an unreliable partner, and therefore Washington is attempting to create a new alliance officially outside of the NATO structure but attached to it indirectly. The creation of a military bloc between Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova is a Washington-led initiative, but is unlikely to have any major impact in limiting Russian influence.

Last week, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba revealed details of his conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Kuleba said that Kiev, with the support of Washington, will start forming a trilateral military alliance comprising of Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova. Although Moldova is not directly on the Black Sea like Ukraine and Georgia, it does have relatively easy access via the Port of Giurgiulești on the Danube River. The bold statements by Kiev’s leaders do not usually provoke significant global interest, but this is special as the order came directly from the White House. Therefore, it unsurprisingly proves a continuation of Washington’s hostile policies towards Russia under new U.S. President Joe Biden.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, almost immediately after Blinken’s endorsement, began to check the combat readiness of his troops in Donbass and stopped the transmission of “pro-Russian” television stations on February 3. Then a week later on February 10, Ukraine made a provocative proposal to NATO by urging the Alliance to use the airspace in the Simferopol Flight Information Region (FIR) over Russia’s Crimean Peninsula for its operations.

The Simferopol FIR includes Ukraine’s Kherson Oblast, the Crimean Peninsula and the central part of the Black Sea. International air routes over Crimea have been banned by Eurocontrol (European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation) as the Simferopol dispatch center is Russian operated and the only flights to Crimea come from Russia. The sky above the peninsula and the adjacent waters of the Black and Azov Seas are effectively protected by the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Russian Navy. Therefore, Ukraine’s invitation for NATO to fly over Crimea with military aircraft is an insidious military ingenuity and an attempt by Zelensky to force the Alliance into a conflict with Russia.

‘Down with the dictatorship’: Protests continue in Haiti

Protesters denounce international support for President Jovenel Moise amid dispute over when his term ends.

Thousands of people have rallied in the Haitian capital Port-au-Prince, accusing the government of trying to establish a new dictatorship and denouncing international support for President Jovenel Moise.

The protests on Sunday were mostly peaceful, although a few clashes broke out between some demonstrators and police, who fired tear gas and rubber-coated bullets.

Protesters waved the national flag and chanted: “Down with the dictatorship!”

Officials loyal to Moise claimed last Sunday they had foiled an attempt to murder him and overthrow the government. Police arrested 23 people including a Supreme Court judge, accusing them of an “attempted coup”.

The Caribbean nation has been plunged into turmoil amid a dispute between Moise’s government and the opposition over when the president’s term is supposed to end.

The opposition claims Moise should step down as his five-year term in office expired on February 7 following 2015 elections, which were disputed and the result cancelled by the electoral council.

Moise rejects those claims, arguing he took power in February 2017 after winning fresh elections in 2016. He has pledged to step down next year.

The 52-year-old has been ruling by presidential decree for more than a year after dissolving a majority of parliament in January 2020, amid a delay in legislative elections due to political gridlock and protests that paralysed the country in 2019.

The constitutional crisis has led to weeks of violent protests on the streets of the impoverished country and Haiti’s ambassador to the US Bocchit Edmond has called on the international community to support talks between Moise’s government and the opposition.

“I believe the international community, our international partners, should work with us and with the opposition parties to make sure that we come to some kind of dialogue or political agreement, so we can have a better way to move forward,” Edmond said.

The United States has backed Moise’s position at the end of his term, with State Department spokesman Ned Price saying on February 5 that “a new elected president should succeed President Moise when his term ends on February 7, 2022”.

Sunday’s protests questioned the legitimacy of Moise’s term length and foreign backing for his holding office.

“Despite all the kidnappings, the massacres in poor neighbourhoods, the United States continues to support him,” said protester Sheila Pelicier.

“The money from the PetroCaribe fund has been squandered, we don’t have good hospitals … and the United States continues to support this corrupt government,” Pelicier said, referring to a loan programme whose funds the Haitian government has been accused of mismanaging since 2008.

Police officers also fired live ammunition into the air in Petion-Ville, a wealthy commune in Port-au-Prince where a car was set on fire.

The notorious Francois “Papa Doc” Duvalier and his son Jean Claude “Baby Doc” ruled Haiti from 1957 until 1986 with their ruthless Tontons Macoutes militia.

The Biden Era Is Witnessing a Return of the Military-Industrial Complex

The promise of a “return to normal” under Joe Biden always meant two possibilities. It could mean a hard break from the obscene, in-your-face corruption and self-dealing that defined Donald Trump’s presidency. Or it could mean going back to the kind of run-of-the-mill, revolving-door Washington corruption that Trump had pledged to clean up, but ended up wallowing in.

According to a new report by the Revolving Door Project, titled “The Military-Industrial-Think Tank Complex: Conflict of Interest at the Center for a New American Security,” it looks to be the latter option that is so far prevailing in the Biden years. Released yesterday, the report charges top Democratic foreign policy think tank the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) of “at best, a serious deficiency of accountability,” and at worst, “a systematically corrupt arrangement” that sees it promote its corporate sponsors’ interests while passing it off as a public good.

The report recounts several examples of this arrangement. In 2009, for instance, CNAS published a report maintaining that the controversial use of private military contractors was essential and “here to stay” in wars like Afghanistan, all while taking money from several different firms providing those very services. One of these firms, DynCorp, was on the receiving end of $2.8 billion of the state department’s Afghanistan operations funding from 2002 to 2013, or 69 percent of the total sum.

In another case, a 2018 CNAS report charged that the Air Force’s plans to buy a hundred B-21 bombers did “not go far enough,” pushing the military to add fifty to seventy-five more jets at an extra cost of $32.8-49.2 billion. Those profits would have gone to the bomber’s maker, Northrop Grumman, an arms manufacturer that also happened to direct more than half of its total think tank donations during the 2014–19 period to CNAS.

A year before that, CNAS had charged the UAE embassy in the United States $250,000 for a report advocating looser rules for exporting US drones (“I think it will help push the debate in the right direction,” the ambassador wrote in a thank you e-mail), before publishing a separate paper calling on Trump to loosen those restrictions. The UAE ended up signing a nearly $200 million deal for the drones with General Atomics, whose billionaire chairman and CEO, Neal Blue, is both a generous donor to CNAS and sits on its board of advisors.

In these and other examples, the report states, the center failed to disclose the conflicts of interest in their reports, despite noting the existence of a policy on such conflicts in their tax filings. It also repeatedly violated the “very clear line” CNAS cofounder Kurt Campbell — then about to serve in Barack Obama’s state department, and now serving on Biden’s national security council — testified about in his 2009 confirmation hearing: that the CNAS doesn’t write about specific products its donors make, but rather stays limited to big picture foreign policy ideas.

The center’s reliance on the corporate sector, particularly military contractors, is extensive, having taken donations from all “big five” such firms in the last decade, along with twenty-four others. According to a Center for International Policy report released last year, CNAS got more defense contractor money than any of the top fifty US think tanks it analyzed. That’s in addition to contributions from NATO, the governments of the United States and eleven other allied countries, and corporate titans spanning fossil fuel, financial, tech, and other sectors, all of whom have given generously to CNAS over the years.

As the report points out, CNAS’s own cofounder — Michèle Flournoy, tipped to be Biden’s defense secretary before her own extensive conflicts of interest derailed her — pointed out the issues with a corporate funding model in a 2014 speech.

Biden plans to release immigration bill THIS WEEK that would give 11 million undocumented immigrants an accelerated path to citizenship and expand the refugee program

Joe Biden plans to release an immigration reform bill that would grant path to citizenship to 11 million undocumented immigrants, according to a report Monday.

The president is expected to unveil the U.S. Citizenship Act of 2021 in the coming days, sources have told NBC.

It will reportedly include a pathway to citizenship for millions, an expansion of the refugee resettlement program and more technology at the southern border.

Expanded benefits for DREAMers who came here illegally as children and processing minors' asylum applications in their home countries are also being considered as part of the bill.

The move is sure to bring a fight with expected pushback from immigration hard-liners. Former Trump administration officials and some within ICE have already objected to Biden's immigration approach.

Texas and Arizona have also both sued to stop Biden's 100-day deportation moratorium, which a judge temporarily put on hold.

The Trump administration slashed refugee admissions by more than 85 percent, setting the limit at 15,000 for fiscal year 2021, which started in October. Biden during his campaign vowed to raise that to 125,000 for this year and possibly boost it even higher in subsequent years.

Democrat Sen. Robert Menendez said the plan 'is about fixing our broken immigration system' but also 'building a better one that reunites families, brings the undocumented community out of the shadows and on a path to citizenship'.

He said the bill would also 'stands up for human rights, address the root causes of migration, and includes a smart border security strategy'.

Lora Ries, a senior research fellow at the Heritage Foundation and former acting deputy chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security under Trump, said in January: 'Legalizing countless millions of illegal aliens — even discussing it — rings the bell for millions more to illegally enter the U.S. to await their green card.'

United Farm Workers President Teresa Romero told The LA Times: 'I don't know that we're going to get the support of Republicans for an immigration reform [bill] that would cover the 11 million people in this country that don't have documents.

'We're realistic on the challenges we have ahead of us.'

'Many Republicans are worried about primary challenges,' Former Rep. Carlos Curbelo, a moderate Republican from Florida said, adding that Trump and his supporters' championing of immigration crackdowns means there's 'political peril there for Republicans.'

Democrats control of the House and Senate is razor thin but, if successful, the legislation would be the biggest move toward granting status to people in the country illegally since President Ronald Reagan bestowed amnesty on nearly three million people in 1986.

Legislative efforts to overhaul immigration policy failed in 2007 and 2013. The Biden administration is said to be open to breaking up the legislation tp avoid it failing.

The Taliban Could Launch Major Offensive Against US if Biden Stays in Afghanistan

Sources told The New York Times that the Pentagon requested more troops or more air support if US does not withdraw

The US-Taliban peace deal signed last year paved the way for a complete withdrawal of all foreign forces from Afghanistan by May 1st. With the deadline quickly approaching, although there hasn’t been an official announcement, both the US and NATO are signaling they plan to stay, but the consequences of not leaving are becoming more apparent.

Throughout the past year, the Taliban has lived up to its commitment under the peace deal not to attack US and coalition forces. February 8th marked the first full year since the war started in 2001 that no US troops died in combat in Afghanistan. Insider attacks, known as “green-on-blue attacks,” have also reached a historic low. But the Taliban is warning that the war against the US and other foreign forces will continue if they remain in the country beyond May 1st.

While the violence against the US has subsided, fighting between the Taliban and the US-backed government has been raging in recent months. A report from The New York Times outlines the amount of territory and government checkpoints the Taliban has captured outside major cities like Kandahar and Kunduz.

According to a report from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), in December, the Afghan government abandoned nearly 200 checkpoints in Kandahar. Military bases have also fallen to the Taliban, giving the Taliban more weapons, ammunition, and some heavy artillery.

The Taliban’s success means that they are poised to launch a major offensive against US, NATO, and US-backed forces if President Biden fails to withdraw. And the Pentagon is preparing for this. Two anonymous US officials told the Times that the Pentagon is requesting additional military options to “prepare for a possible multipronged attack should the United States stay beyond the May 1st deadline.”

The Pentagon is requesting an increase of troops in Afghanistan or more air support from US Central Command, which oversees US military operations in the Middle East in Afghanistan. Either way, the military recognizes that if the US stays put, it means an escalation of the almost 20-year-old war.

The Biden administration is currently reviewing the US-Taliban peace deal and is expected to make a decision on withdrawal in the coming weeks. NATO defense ministers are meeting on Wednesday and Thursday where they will address the situation in Afghanistan. Meanwhile, the Taliban continues to appeal to the US to live up to its end of the deal.

Iran Restates Pledge That it Does Not Seek Nuclear Weapons

Comments came after Iran's intel minister said the US could 'corner' Tehran into moving towards a nuclear weapon

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh restated on Monday that Tehran’s official policy prohibits the development of nuclear weapons. His comments came after Iran’s intelligence minister suggested pressure from the US could cause Iran to consider a different policy.

“Iran’s position remains unchanged. Iran’s nuclear activities have always been peaceful and will remain peaceful,” Khatibzadeh said. “The supreme leader’s fatwa banning weapons of mass destruction and nuclear weapons is still valid,” he said, referring to a religious edict from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Last week, Iran’s Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi made comments that were taken by Western and Israeli media as a “threat” that Iran is considering making a nuclear weapon. But even in his remarks, Alavi repeated that nuclear weapons were prohibited by Khamenei.

“Our nuclear program is peaceful and the fatwa by the supreme leader has forbidden nuclear weapons, but if they push Iran in that direction, then it wouldn’t be Iran’s fault but those who pushed it,” Alavi said.

“But if a cat is caught in a corner, it may behave differently … If they are pushing Iran in that direction, then it is not Iran’s fault, but those who pushed it,” Alavi added. He also said that Tehran has no current plans to pursue a bomb.

While Iran is not pursuing nuclear weapons, it has increased the activity of its civilian nuclear program as a direct result of Washington’s pressure and failure to uphold the 2015 nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA. Iran is currently enriching some uranium at 20 percent and researching uranium metal. Iran hawks frame this as the Islamic Republic racing towards a bomb, but it has a civilian purpose.

Uranium enriched at 20 percent is needed to power the Tehran Research Reactor, a facility that was built by the US in the 1960s that can produce medical isotopes. To make fuel rods for the TRR, uranium metal is needed.

Since Iran is still under crippling economic sanctions, increasing enrichment to power the TRR and produce medical isotopes can help its medical sector and also gain leverage over the US. Iranian officials have made it clear that they are willing to scale back this nuclear activity to come within the limits of the JCPOA if the US lifts sanctions.

Amazon Recruiting 26 Former FBI Agents To Smash Workers Unions

Amazon is recruiting 26 former FBI agents in order to provide security from and smash the workers unions. The tech-giant is employing services of specialists to collect and monitor information on organized labor. Currently, the company is facing one of the largest union pushes with more than six thousand employees in the Amazon Birmingham facility voting to form a union.

Tech giants are already in the news for providing a diverse range of technology services for the military and supplying law enforcement agencies with state-of-the-art facial recognition software.

Now, Amazon, which started as an online bookseller is focusing on security by hiring twenty-six FBI agents for its global security center in Arizona.

The expansion will help in facing new challenges such as:

Counterfeiting issues

Antitrust scrutiny

Work activism pressure

The tech behemoth has hired at least two FBI agents to keep the unions out by monitoring the labor-organizing activity of its employees.

Several former FBI agents like Cindy Wetzstein and Brian Brooks who held responsible posts in the FBI now work with Amazon in its Arizona security facility for developing better security measures.

So, it will come as no surprise that as many as 26 former FBI agents and employees hold key positions in different departments like software development, security division, advisory board, human resources, and so on in the Arizona security operation facility.

While Amazon started hiring FBI agents from the year 2007-2008, it ramped up the recruitment in 2019.

Amazon is one of the largest web hosts worldwide. It has hired ex-FBI agents to prevent attacks and theft on the wide range of merchandise.

While the new hires in the security division monitor employees and track their union activities to avoid pressure from the labor activists.

According to Amazon spokesperson, hiring FBI agents is a natural process to ensure the safety of the buildings and employees during natural disasters or other events posing a threat to security and safety.

But, Amazon is focusing more on tracking the employee activities related to labor activism.

The tech-giant is employing services of specialists to collect and monitor information on organized labor.

It came to public scrutiny when Amazon had to delete job listings after backlash from the labor groups as well as the general public.

The listing included the job listing of intelligence analysis with experience in security as the preferred qualification.

While the spokesperson for the company tried to smoothen the ruffled feathers by indicating the inaccuracy in the job description. The company is still posting jobs with similar requirements for its security division.

Not just Amazon, many tech-giants are monitoring and overcoming threats from perceived opponents by employing experts.

Biden Removes ‘We the People’ Petitioning From White House Website

It appears that the ‘We the People’ petition system has been taken off the White House website. Here is an archive of what it looked like before Biden took office.

The system has been around for many years. At any given time, hundreds of petitions were active. If you get 100,000 signatures, the White House is supposed to give an answer. You may remember that there was an active “Free Assange” petition that the Obama Administration was obligated to answer (and gave a bad answer).

When Trump took office, he briefly discontinued it but put it back up after a media uproar.

Now it appears the Biden White House has removed it. The website used to be here:

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov

This URL, as well as URLs for all currently-active petitions, just forward to the White House front page. I explored the website and could not find any mention of it. The link used to appear in both the “Contact” and “Get Involved” links, but it is gone from both.

I have seen nothing about this in the media. When I Google “White House Petition System Down” and other similar searches, I only get 4-year-old articles about the time that Trump temporarily disabled it.

Wikipedia says that the system was taken down the day Biden took office: On January 20 2021, the day the Inauguration of Joe Biden took place, the website’s address started redirecting to the White House’s website home address.

This is a terrible event, and it must be publicized, and Biden must be made to reverse this decision.

“This Blizzard Exposes The Perils Of Attempting To ‘Electrify Everything’”, Climate Change Activists Wrong

The massive blast of Siberia-like cold that is wreaking

havoc across North America is proving that if we humans want

to keep surviving frigid winters, we are going to have to

keep burning natural gas — and lots of it — for decades to

come.

That cold reality contradicts the “electrify everything”

scenario that’s being promoted by climate change activists,

politicians, and academics. They claim that to avert the

possibility of catastrophic climate change, we must stop

burning hydrocarbons and convert all of our transportation,

residential, commercial, and industrial systems so that they

are powered solely on electricity, with most of that juice

coming, of course, from forests of wind turbines and oceans

of solar panels.

Group “Our Vote Matters” Is Suing Facebook, Dominion, Mark Zuckerberg, Certain State Officials, Others for Infringing Upon Right to Vote, Assemble and Speak Freely – You Can Join Too

The group “Our Vote Matters” is suing Facebook, Dominion Voting Systems, Mark Zuckerberg, certain state officials, and others for infringing upon our right to vote, assemble and speak freely. You can join them too.

AMERICANS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY FILE $160 BILLION CLASS-ACTION CIVIL RIGHTS LAWSUIT AGAINST DOMINION VOTING SYSTEMS, ZUCKERBERG, FACEBOOK, ELECTED OFFICIALS AND OTHERS

Voters from multiple states have filed a class-action lawsuit against Dominion Voting Systems, Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, his wife, Priscilla Chan, individual state officials, and others for $160 billion.

“It doesn’t matter for whom you voted,” say the Plaintiffs, who filed the suit in federal district court in Denver, Colorado, “The Defendants have infringed upon the rights of every registered voter in America.”

The lawsuit, filed on December 22, 2020, alleges that Dominion Voting Systems burdened the equal protection and due process rights of all voters in the 2020 presidential election. The Plaintiffs contend that Dominion’s voting machines do not record the vote expressed by the voter, are associated with known risks of hacking and high error rates that can cause vote changes, do not produce a convincing public record, and are unable to be effectively audited to ensure results.

The suit also claims that Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, improperly funneled over $400 million dollars through Defendant, Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL), to pay ballot harvesters, fund illegal drop-boxes, deputize and pay political activists to manage ballots, and remunerate local election officials to recruit other cities and counties to apply for the “grants” offered by CTCL.

As outlined in the 84 page complaint, Zuckerberg and Chan unconstitutionally used their enormous wealth to become “inextricably woven” in the presidential election process—while Facebook was actively censoring its users for sharing information on election fraud. The Plaintiffs have also filed a constitutional challenge to Facebook’s application of Section 230, as a shield against liability.

Unlike other election lawsuits, this case names four governors, three secretaries of state and the members of the Wisconsin Election Commission specifically in their personal, rather than professional capacity. As cited in the Complaint, the Supreme Court held in ex parte Young that “a state actor who violates federal law is in that case stripped of his official or representative character and is subjected in his person to the consequences of his individual conduct.”

The Plaintiffs allege that the Defendants have “damaged the reputation of the country, violated the civil rights of hundreds of millions of people, caused incalculable financial loss due to lack of productivity and mental anguish, destroyed the people’s faith in their government and elected officials, caused massive internal strife inside the United States and, among many other things, increased the risks of civil war, and other violent and uncivil behavior.”

In the end, the Plaintiffs, who describe themselves as “a class of similarly situated persons,” request the “nominal amount of $1,000 per registered voter equaling damages in the approximate amount of $160 Billion.”

“Our goal is free and fair elections,” assert the Plaintiffs, “To accomplish this we must hold those who engage in election interference accountable for their individual behavior.”

Biden unlikely to host foreign leader in person for 'a couple of months'

© UPI Photo

President Biden is unlikely to meet in-person with a foreign leader for "a couple of months," press secretary Jen Psaki said on Tuesday.

"I would anticipate for all of you that it will be a couple of months before the president invites a foreign leader to meet in person here at the White House," Psaki said at a news briefing.

The comments are the first glimpse of a timeline the White House has given of when Biden might resume in-person meetings with foreign leaders as the coronavirus pandemic rages on. Biden has held calls with numerous foreign leaders since taking office, but he has yet to meet face-to-face with any of them.

Biden will call into a virtual Group of Seven (G-7) meeting on Friday, as well as the Munich Security Conference.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's office said in a readout of a call on Jan. 22 that he and Biden had agreed "to meet next month."

Psaki said she had no details on when that might happen, but noted that the two leaders could meet virtually.

Foreign travel has been curbed by the pandemic dating back to the Trump administration, though then-President Trump did host foreign leaders even amid the health crisis.

Trump hosted the Irish Prime Minister for St. Patrick's Day in 2020 in the early weeks of the pandemic and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also visited the White House in September for the signing of the Abraham Accords.

Biden has taken a more cautious approach to travel.

He will make his first domestic trip on Tuesday to Wisconsin for a CNN town hall, and the White House has given no indication of when he might travel abroad.

Senior Partners at Firm Hired to ‘Review’ Lincoln Project Scandal Have Donated Thousands to Group

Paul Hastings, the law firm hired to conduct a "comprehensive review" of the Lincoln Project's "operations and culture," could be hard-pressed to deliver a credible result given several of its senior partners have donated to the scandal-plagued super PAC.

Greg Nitzkowski, the firm's managing partner of more than two decades, donated $3,000 to the Lincoln Project in 2020, according to federal election records. Elena Baca, who chairs the firm's employment law department, has donated almost $2,000 to the Lincoln Project.

According to her bio on the Paul Hastings website, Baca is "considered a ‘go-to' employment lawyer for many large employers with high-profile disputes involving high-level executives and contentious high-stakes litigation." She has won praise for her "aggressive approach" to defending clients against "claims of sex discrimination and retaliation."

The Lincoln Project could soon require the services of an attorney with Baca's skill set. The group's only female cofounder, Jennifer Horn, has instructed the group (via her lawyer) to retain documents in anticipation of a lawsuit. Horn, who resigned from the group on Feb. 5, has made allegations of abusive and demeaning treatment by Lincoln Project executives.

Three other Paul Hastings partners have donated money to the Lincoln Project: Sam Alavi, whose clients include the Qatar Investment Authority; Joseph Profaizer, who has defended Chinese firms against allegations of intellectual property theft from U.S. competitors; and Steven Marenberg, who previously represented Donald Trump and NBC Universal in a copyright case involving The Apprentice.

The Lincoln Project announced on Monday that it has retained Paul Hastings for the purpose of conducting an internal investigation. "We are committed to creating a positive, diverse, and inclusive workplace environment at The Lincoln Project, and inappropriate behavior by anyone associated with the organization will not be tolerated under any circumstances," the group said in a statement.

The move was seen by many as a last-ditch effort to placate nervous donors and media outlets, whose fawning coverage of the Lincoln Project fueled its rise to become one of the most well-funded super PACs of the 2020 cycle. The group has been racked by scandal since mid-January, when dozens of young men accused cofounder John Weaver of engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior.

Additional reporting on the scandal has uncovered significant evidence to suggest that senior Lincoln Project members, who have aggressively denied any knowledge of Weaver's predatory behavior, are not being entirely truthful. The group has also failed to satisfy the demands of six former Lincoln Project employees and associates who have demanded to be released from all non-disclosure agreements in order to speak openly about their experiences.

Washington’s Energetic Generals and the Emphasis on Preparation for Nuclear War

The Pentagon’s energetic generals are beating their war drums and the President has as yet done nothing to rein them in, Brian Cloughley writes.

Some senior generals and admirals in and around Washington have been very busy recently, and their activities, while aggressive, have not been associated with directing current combat operations. Rather, they have been directed at attempting to influence the Administration of newly-elected President Joe Biden to restructure military forces, expand the nuclear arsenal and magnify specific warfighting capabilities. All of this is what might be expected of those whose business and dispositions are aimed at organising destruction and death, but the manner in which their aspirations are expressed are not consistent with what is expected of military personnel in a democracy.

The U.S. Department of Defence is now headed by a Biden-appointed retired general who has not voided the directive concerning “Political Activities by Members of the Armed Forces” which notes that “members on active duty should not engage in partisan political activity.”

This long-standing instruction was last reiterated in 2008 but it cannot be said that generals and admirals have followed its letter or spirit, and the present echelons of senior officers appear determined to flout it by wide publication of their personal points of view concerning the military posture of their country. This, by any interpretation, is “partisan political activity.” No government should tolerate meddling by the military.

On February 2 the chief of staff of the U.S. Air Force, General Charles Q Brown, and the Commandant of the Marines Corps, General David H Berger, had an opinion piece published in the Washington Post in which they expressed overall support for the 2018 National Defense Strategy but complained that “it has not changed defence investment priorities at the scale or scope necessary to prepare the U.S. military for great power competition.” In other words, they consider their enormous armed forces, on which some 740 billion dollars are to be spent this year, are not ready for war in spite of that allocation of taxpayers’ money being 11 times that of Russia and three times that of China.

Not to be outdone in public pronouncements, the following day the commander of U.S. Army forces in Europe and Africa, General Christopher Cavoli gave a speech in which he said that “the U.S. military needs more long-range artillery and other advanced weaponry in Europe to be able to take on enemy forces . . .”, and it is reasonable to ask if this sort of policy indicator is approved by the new President.

Then the head of Strategic Command, the element responsible, among other things, for “strategic deterrence; nuclear operations and space operations”, Admiral Charles Richard, published his personal take on the future use of nuclear weapons. In the February edition of the Naval Institute’s magazine Admiral Richard wrote that Russia and China “have begun to aggressively challenge international norms and global peace using instruments of power and threats of force in ways not seen since the height of the Cold War.” This person accountable for employment of nuclear weapons holds that “There is a real possibility that a regional crisis with Russia or China could escalate quickly to a conflict involving nuclear weapons, if they perceived a conventional loss would threaten the regime or state…”

It could hardly have been a coincidence that in early February the Pentagon ordered two U.S. carrier strike groups, led by the USS Theodore Roosevelt and the USS Nimitz, to conduct manoeuvres in the South China Sea.

Navy Times reported that “the Roosevelt’s carrier strike group includes Carrier Air Wing 11, guided-missile cruiser Bunker Hill, Destroyer Squadron 23 [six ships], and guided-missile destroyers Russell and John Finn. The Nimitz’s carrier strike group includes Carrier Air Wing 17, guided-missile cruiser Princeton, guided-missile destroyer Sterett, and staff from Destroyer Squadron 9 and Carrier Strike Group 11.”

24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Many think the 70 weeks are years or multiples of years but what if it is just 70 weeks of trouble.

Corona commenced 22 December 2019 in the US plus 70 weeks = 52 weeks = Dec 22 2020 + 18 weeks = 126 days = 27 April 2021

Researchers from UCLA and their colleagues at the University of Washington documented an unmistakable uptick in patients seeking treatment for coughs. The increase began the week of Dec. 22, 2019, and persisted through the end of February.

Manhattan federal court buildings requiring double masking

Anyone entering Manhattan federal court buildings will now be required to wear two masks or a KN95 or N95 mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The order is part of the Southern District of New York’s new phased reopening plan.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have recently advised that the public double mask amid the spread of more contagious variants of the virus.

“You are required to wear either: (i) one disposable mask underneath a cloth

mask with the edges of the inner mask pushed against your face; or (ii) a properly-fitted, FDA-authorized KN95 (or N95) mask in all public areas of the courthouse (including hallways, public counters, elevators and courtrooms.),” the order states.

“You must also wear a mask in all shared space/common areas where more than one person is assigned to work unless an SDNY staff member has granted you permission to remove your mask. You must also wear masks any time you are interacting with any other person(s) regardless of social distancing.”

For months, the Manhattan courts have been operating mostly remotely amid the pandemic. Currently, SDNY is in its first phase of reopening, with some office staff back in the courts. The courthouses still remain closed to the public.

“As the first wave of the pandemic recedes, we need to reopen our doors to the public and move toward a restoration of the full range of services that courts provide,” SDNY Chief Judge Colleen McMahon wrote of the new plan. “We are committed to doing this in a way that provides maximum safety to those who work in our courthouses and those who visit them. We will be guided by the best possible scientific and medical advice. That is why we will reopen gradually, as conditions in the eight counties that make up the Southern

District permit.”

‘Alternative Reality News’: U.S. Navy Claims Dual-Carrier Drills Near China Are Not Intended To Provoke Beijing

Finally, it became clear for the entire democratic world. If another state sends two aircraft carriers close to your shores to hold military drills, this is a friendly move. Those who claimed that this could be a provocation should be ashamed.

Rear Adm. Doug Verissimo said that the recent drills involving the USS Theodore Roosevelt and USS Nimitz strike groups took place in the South China Sea were in no way related to threatening China.

“The fact that we came together in the South China Sea was based on our navigation plan and making the most efficient route to and from our areas,” Verissimo, the commander of the USS Theodore Roosevelt strike group said.

Rear Adm. James Kirk that led the USS Nimitz said the dual-carrier drill was “not in response to any nation or event,” but meant to “improve our readiness levels in the region.”

Apparently, Chinese communist propaganda was easily defeated by these clear, straight and truthful statements.

In message to Hezbollah, IAF practices striking 3,000 targets in 24 hours

The drill involved the entire Air Force, including technicians, ammunition officers, and reservists who were called up from home to participate.

A Hezbollah missile hits an IAF fighter jet. In response, the entire air force is scrambled to participate in a broad offensive against Lebanon, including attacks against infrastructure such as bridges, power plants and airports spanning 24 hours. That scenario was the focus of an IDF exercise that began on Sunday morning and ended on Tuesday at noon.

During the drill, the IAF proved its ability to strike at 3,000 Hezbollah targets within a 24-hour period.

Land Of Freedom And Democracy: After Shutting Down Opposition TV Channels, Kiev Regime Issues ‘Treason’ Accusation Against Opposition Blogger

The Kiev regime continues to demonstrate that it has successfully learnt lessons of its Washington puppets and is widely employ censorship, political persecutions and intelligence services to suppress the opposition and persecute Ukrainian citizens.

After shutting down opposition TV channels by imposing sanctions (on a Ukrainian citizen and a member of the Ukrainian Parliament (!), the Zelensky government moved forward in burning the weak vestiges of freedom of speech in Ukraine.

On February 16, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) released a video accusing the prominent political blogger and opposition politician in exile, Anatoly Shariy. Expectedly, according to the SBU, Shariy works in the interests of the Kremlin.

Shariy received asylum in the European Union in 2012 as he was reportedly persecuted by Ukrainian law enforcement bodies related to his journalist work. Then, Viktor Yanukovich was the president of Ukraine. Therefore, it is hard to consider Shariy to be a supporter of the ‘bloody Yanukovich regime’.

Since 2014, Shariy has gained a wide popularity in Ukraine due to his regular video blogs revealing fakes of Ukrainian and Western propaganda and the permanent state of chaos and corruption of the ‘new democratic Ukrainian state’ under the rule of its ‘Western partners’.

For years, Shariy was a vocal critic of Petro Poroshenko and was actively supporting Volodymyr Zelensky (that then promised to support the peace settlement in Eastern Ukraine, fight the corruption and restore the order in the government) during the 2019 presidential campaign. However, then, it appeared that Zelensky is just Poroshenko 2.0 and his government is not interested in protecting the real Ukrainian national interests but rather employs various illegal tools, including funding of neo-Nazi radical militant groups, to secure the power. Thus, the focus of work of Shariy and his political party that he established in 2019 turned to be to oppose both Zelensky and Poroshenko.

Activists and members of the Party of Shariy were repeatedly attacked by government-backed radicals and militants.

I thank the SBU for raising suspicion by publishing a propaganda video in telegrams on the article “High treason”.

Now I don’t need to prove to the EU once again that everything is on me – pure politics.

Shariy and his party have little presence within the government bodies. For example, in the 2020 Ukrainian local elections the party gained 52 deputies. However, they achieved a significant success in Ukraine as the opposition media phenomenon – mostly due to the fact that the government was not able to detain or kill Shariy, who remains in the European Union.

Therefore, the media work of Shariy and his circle cause a permanent concern among the Ukrainian leadership as it reveals the sad reality of the modern Ukraine that goes contrary to MSM propaganda and loud statements of representatives and sponsors of the Kiev regime.

Trump, Giuliani Sued By Congressman For Conspiring To Incite Capitol Insurrection

Donald Trump faces yet another legal battle.

Rep. Bennie Thompson, a Mississippi Democrat, filed a lawsuit in Washington, D.C., federal court accusing the former president and others of conspiring to incite the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol.

Thompson, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, filed the suit against Trump, his attorney Rudy Giuliani, the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers. The defendants allegedly violated the Ku Klux Klan Act. The NAACP joined in the lawsuit.

The act, passed in 1871, prohibits actions aimed at preventing Congress from carrying out its duties. The Jan. 6 mob that descended on the Capitol was attempting to stop certification of Electoral College results declaring Joe Biden winner of November's presidential election.

Thompson's suit claims Trump, Giuliani and the two right-wing extremist groups named executed a carefully orchestrated plan to intimidate, harass and threaten to stop the certification.

"The Defendants each intended to prevent, and ultimately delayed, members of Congress from discharging their duty commanded by the United States Constitution to approve the results of the Electoral College in order to elect the next President and Vice President of the United States," the lawsuit said. "Pursuing a purpose shared by Defendants Trump and Giuliani as well as Defendant Proud Boys, Defendant Oath Keepers played a leadership role in the riotous crowd and provided military-style assistance sufficient to overcome any Capitol Police resistance."

Trump was acquitted Saturday on an article of impeachment alleging an incitement of insurrection. Trump is the first president to be impeached twice. He was acquitted on Feb. 5, 2020, in his first impeachment trial and became the first impeached president to stand for re-election.

In the first impeachment, the Senate voted 53-47 against convicting Trump, with Sen. Mitt Romney of Utah the only Republican to vote to convict. Saturday's vote was 57-43 in favor of conviction, with seven Republicans voting against Trump, but that was far short of the two-thirds majority necessary to acquit.

The civil lawsuit seeks unspecified compensatory and punitive damages and sues Trump as an individual, claiming he acted outside the scope of his office when inciting the rioters. As a civil proceeding, plaintiffs have to prove responsibility by a preponderance of the evidence and not the criminal trial standard of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.

Third Stimulus Check: Biden's Relief Plan, $1,4000 Payments Finally Gets GOP Support

GOP officials in city halls and statehouses call for more relief

A new coronavirus relief package would prevent massive layoffs across the nation

Biden's $1.9 trillion plan would provide aid to the homeless

President Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief plan and $1,400 checks are finally earning the support of some GOP officials across the U.S.

Fresno Mayor Jerry Dyer, a Republican, said he is rooting for the president to push through the Democrats’ $1.9 trillion aid package and give reprieve to his city, which is considered the poorest in the state of California.

“The relief plan will help get us to the end,” he told The Washington Post.

Without the coronavirus economic package, Fresno may consider laying off over 250 workers, including people working in the police department and fire department, in hopes of closing a $31 million budget shortfall.

“That is going to be devastating,” Dyer added.

Republicans in Congress have publicly opposed the relief bill and have slammed a measure that would send $350 billion in federal aid to states, cities, and tribal governments.

“Big doesn’t necessarily mean good,” Rep. Anthony Gonzales, R-Ohio, told PBS. “Let’s go smart. Let’s go targeted and let’s solve the actual need.”

However, GOP officials at statehouses and city hall throughout the U.S. believe the relief package would help keep police departments from missing a beat and provide aid to the increasing number of homeless and hungry people.

“It’s not a Republican issue or a Democrat issue,” Dyer said. “It’s a public health issue. It’s an economic issue. And it’s a public safety issue.”

Billed as the American Rescue Plan, Biden’s $1.9 trillion relief proposal augments many of the measures included in the previous packages. The plan would include sending a third round of stimulus checks amounting to $1,400 per person and $2,800 per couple.

The new payments would also go to adult dependents, including children over the age of 17, who were left out of the previous checks. It would also give payments to mixed-status households.

The American Rescue Plan includes provisions to extend the enhanced unemployment aid to millions of jobless Americans. The package will increase the unemployment aid to $400 a week from the previous $300.

President Biden would extend the 15% increase in food stamp benefits, which is set to expire in June. The government will invest $3 billion in food assistance for women and children. U.S. territories also would get $1 billion in nutrition assistance.

MITCH McCONNELL DOUBLES DOWN: GOP Senate Leader Now Attacking Trump in Wall Street Journal OpEd – Pushes Criminal Charges

Republican leader Mitch McConnell trashed President Trump following his second acquittal Saturday by the US Senate.

McConnell brutally trashed President Trump following his acquittal.

McConnell and the GOP elites (GOPe) worked against President Trump for years preventing him from passing his wildly popular agenda to protect America, its workers, and its citizens.

As reported earlier, McConnell did not hold back as he ripped Trump apart for a “disgraceful dereliction of duty” and attempting to “overturn the election.”

He claimed that the protesters stormed the Capitol because they had been “fed wild falsehoods by the most powerful man on earth,” and that Trump was “practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day.”

And then Mitch McConnell suggested that President Trump can still be charged in the criminal justice system!

On Tuesday Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell doubled down on his outrageous remarks. McConnell continued to push for criminal charges against the former Republican president.

McConnell wrote in his oped that former officials are ‘still liable to be tried and punished in the ordinary tribunals of justice.’

McConnell is leading the charge to get Trump arrested and prosecuted.

McConnell is the leader of the Senate Republicans. They must support this.

Via The Wall Street Journal:

Jan. 6 was a shameful day. A mob bloodied law enforcement and besieged the first branch of government. American citizens tried to use terrorism to stop a democratic proceeding they disliked.

There is no question former President Trump bears moral responsibility. His supporters stormed the Capitol because of the unhinged falsehoods he shouted into the world’s largest megaphone. His behavior during and after the chaos was also unconscionable, from attacking Vice President Mike Pence during the riot to praising the criminals after it ended.

I was as outraged as any member of Congress. But senators take our own oaths. Our job wasn’t to find some way, any way, to inflict a punishment. The Senate’s first and foundational duty was to protect the Constitution.

Some brilliant scholars believe the Senate can try and convict former officers. Others don’t. The text is unclear, and I don’t begrudge my colleagues their own conclusions. But after intense study, I concluded that Article II, Section 4 limits impeachment and conviction to current officers.

Everyone agrees that “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors” exhaust the valid grounds for conviction. It follows that the list of persons in that sentence—“the president, vice president, and all civil officers”—likewise exhausts its valid subjects…

…The Constitution presupposes that anyone convicted by the Senate must have an office from which to be removed. This doesn’t mean leaving office provides immunity from accountability. Former officials are ‘still liable to be tried and punished in the ordinary tribunals of justice.’ Criminal law and civil litigation ensure there is no so-called January exemption.

Brittany Higgins: Security guards ‘unlocked office’ for alleged Parliament rapist

Security officers say they checked on Brittany Higgins’ welfare after the alleged rape in Parliament for two extraordinary reasons.

The former director of security operations at Parliament House quit his job in the wake of the “tragic” alleged rape of Brittany Higgins after raising concerns over how the matter was handled.

News.com.au understands that Peter Butler, a former sworn New South Wales Special Constable through his work with transit police and in the NSW Sheriff’s office, has raised concerns over the March 23, 2019 incident for years.

A secret parliamentary inquiry into security at Parliament House has spent months canvassing how the alleged rape was handled, receiving confidential submissions from former and current security guards.

Security officers who are aware of the circumstances on the night of the alleged rape have told news.com.au that they checked on Ms Higgins’ welfare in the early morning of March 23, 2019 for two reasons.

The first reason is stunning. On the night in question, they say the male staffer who took an intoxicated Ms Higgins to Parliament House did not have a key to the office.

A whistleblower claims that security officers from the Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) not only signed the pair in without security passes but opened the door to then-Defence Industry Minister Linda Reynolds’s office for the male staffer, allowing him to take Ms Higgins inside.

Because the security officers had not only allowed the pair to enter the building but had indeed even unlocked the office at the male staffer’s request, they had a duty of care to ensure the office was properly secured after the pair left.

But CCTV that is continuously monitored 24 hours a day in Parliament House showed the male staffer leaving with no sign of the woman.

“Two went in, but only one came out,’’ a former security officer told news.com.au.

This is the second reason security officers returned to Senator Reynolds’s office to determine what had happened to the woman who had been brought in “falling down drunk” and barely able to sign her own name.

Mexico Blames United States As Millions Face Blackouts From Frozen Turbines, ‘We Must Seek To Be Self-Sufficient’

After US natural gas imports to Mexico were brought to a halt due to a massive winter storm, the nation reported that 4.77 million businesses and homes were left without power.

Mexico is blaming the United States as 4.77 million Mexican businesses and homes were reportedly left without power amid a halt in US natural gas imports due to severely cold weather.

While 80% of the electricity has been restored in Mexico’s northern states, the massive electricity blackouts have given the Mexican government more reason to seek an end to their reliance on the United States for natural gas, gasoline, and diesel.

“What is the lesson in all of this? We must produce,” said President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador. “We are seeing that we must seek to be self-sufficient.”

Also known as AMLO, the President of Mexico wants to bolster CFE’s influence on the Mexican power grid. He hopes to pass a congressional bill that would give CFE priority in providing electricity to the nation. While some have argued that this would impact the new USMCA trade deal, AMLO said that this would not be the case.

The US is currently facing one of the worst energy crises in modern history. Millions of Americans are dealing with widespread power outages in the state of Texas, as their vastly used wind turbines have been iced over and rendered ineffective, placing increased stress on the nation’s dwindling natural gas supplies, as National File reported:

Historically low temperatures have iced over wind turbines across Texas, which do not have any systems capable of keeping them running through cold weather.

“This is a unique winter storm that’s more widespread with lots of moisture in West Texas, where there’s a lot of times not a lot of moisture,” Senior Director of System Operations for the Electric Reliability Council of Texas Dan Woodfin noted, adding, “It’s certainly more than what we would typically assume.”

The crisis in Texas could serve as an example of the shortcomings of green energy technology.

Dubai princess claims she is being held ‘hostage’ in disturbing new videos

A terrified daughter of the ruler of Dubai begged for help from being held “hostage” by her father in disturbing recordings that have been released after her supporters lost contact with her.

Princess Latifa Al Maktoum made the whispered pleas for help in a series of clandestine videos recorded on a phone that was smuggled to her in her villa “prison” in the Kingdom, the Free Latifah support group said.

“I’m a hostage and this villa has been converted into a jail,” said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s daughter in one of the clips shared with the BBC.

She filmed the videos in a bathroom “because this is the only room with a door I can lock,” she said.

“There are five policemen outside and two policewomen inside the house, and I can’t even go outside to get any fresh air,” Latifah, 35, went on, adding her windows were “barred shut.”

“Every day I am worried about my safety and my life. I don’t really know if I’m going to survive this situation.

The US State Department allowed its non-emergency staff and employees’ families to leave Myanmar amid political unrest in the country, the department spokesman Ned Price told reporters on Tuesday.

"The safety and security of our people and US citizens overseas is a top priority for us. That’s why on February 14 the Department authorized voluntary departure… of family members and non-emergency US government employees in Burma. It gives our employees and family members the option to depart if they wish," Price said during a daily briefing.

He added that the status will be reviewed every 30 days and runs concurrently with the constant assessment of the security situation in Myanmar.

"And if additional action is warranted we will take it," Price said.

Earlier in the month, Myanmar’s military overthrew the government and declared a year-long state of emergency hours before the newly-elected parliament was due to convene. State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi and President Win Myint, along with other top officials accused of election fraud, have been placed under house arrest. The events have sparked international condemnation as well as domestic protests across Myanmar.

SA government under fire over scathing child sex abuse report

The South Australian government is under fire over its handling of two children who were sexually abused while in state care.

In 2019-2020 two children aged 13 and 14 were abused by pedophiles while under the guardianship of child protection services.

In one case the victim lived with the offender for several months and in the other the victim was impregnated by a known sexual offender.

A new report has outlined failures by the Child Protection Minister who was unaware of the incidents until the perpetrators were convicted.

The Opposition is calling for her resignation and victim support advocates are also demanding change.

The South Australian government has accepted all six recommendations put forward in the report including the creation of a dedicated team to ensure all cases are properly reported.
