James Baldwin and William F. Buckley debate the American Negro its relationship to the American Dream at Cambridge University in 1965
Both men speak eloquently and both men make solid points. Baldwin saying things like a white man is hurt by a mentality of "at least I'm not black," because this allows a white man to accept abuses and injustices he should not accept, as well as saying the black man should not be an object of charity or a cause. Buckley makes a great point in saying that America offers more opportunity to the black man than any other country and another great point in saying the black activism wishes to punish and subjegate the white man. All around just a great conversation on race made up of candor and intelligence that is lacking in today's conversations on the subject. If you have an hour, worth a watch. Happy Black History Month.
