I'm in the same boat. I farm, have preps and a bug out plan but my emphasis is on bugging in by helping neighbors and the community bond and cooperate to weather the storms. I started years ago sharing my garden and skills so I got to know everyone. I blade their driveway's when they can't, feed their cattle and horses when they can't, pick up things in town when they can't, fix their shit when they can't.
There's strength in numbers but one cannot dismiss the possibility of having to bug if over-run.
