I have monitored USGS for 20 years every day. I get email on anything over 4.5 worldwide for years.

The highest 30 day count over 2.5 WW is 2300+

1800 is up there

1300 was the high for many years, and since it hit 1300 the last time last summer, it never went down below 1700

So since Sunday it went from 1700 to over 1800 for the 2.5 30 day WW count.

Things ARE popping!

The 1800 peak we are seeing will probably climb just from Kiluaea alone. The deal is that when it hit 2300 in January, I thought it was all over.

Every time it goes up, it is typically due to swarming. The Big Island is a swarm. NorCal was a recent swarm.

Permanent swarms in CONUS are Yellowstone, Oklahoma and Puerto Rico.

Otherwise, there are occasionally new shakes in places we don't typically see, but after looking at the map of the world several times today, I see nothing truly surprising locationwise or in swarming where swarming is already noted by USGS

Any time anyone has questions about seismic stuff, you can bet I will respond. Been a seismicfag for 30 years now.
