Viktor Vekselberg, Russian Billionaire, Was Questioned by Mueller’s Investigators

WASHINGTON — When the United States sought to punish Russia last month for its election interference and other aggressions, it targeted some of Russia’s wealthiest men, imposing sanctions on those viewed as enriching themselves off President Vladimir V. Putin’s government.

Now it turns out that one of the men, Viktor F. Vekselberg, was also singled out in another of the efforts to confront Russia’s election interference: the investigation led by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III.

Federal agents working with Mr. Mueller stopped Mr. Vekselberg, a billionaire businessman, at a New York-area airport this year and sought to search his electronic devices and question him, according to people familiar with the matter. They confronted him after he stepped off a private plane about two months ago, according to one of the people.

Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs John R. Bolton met with National Security Office Director Chung Eui-yong of the Republic of Korea on May 4, 2018. Ambassador Chung provided Ambassador Bolton with a detailed readout of President Moon Jae-ins April 27 Summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. They discussed President Trumps upcoming meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and agreed to maintain frequent communication in the coming weeks. Ambassador Bolton and Ambassador Chung also noted that the close coordination between the White House and Blue House on their respective engagements with North Korea reflects the strength of the United StatesRepublic of Korea Alliance. The two ambassadors reaffirmed that there are no plans to change the United StatesRepublic of Korea bilateral defense posture in the Republic of Korea. Texas City commissioner indicted days before election

TEXAS CITY, Texas (AP) — A Texas City commissioner has been indicted on manslaughter charges just days before an election determines whether she keeps her seat.

A Galveston County grand jury indicted 54-year-old Dee Ann Haney Thursday. Haney’s attorneys declined to comment on the decision.

Authorities arrested the commissioner in July, saying her vehicle veered to the shoulder of a road and fatally struck a man and his son.

Mom may use intoxication defense for baby found rotting in swing

NEW HAMPTON, Iowa — The mother of a baby whose lifeless body was found in an infant swing has told a northeast Iowa court that she may use as a trial defense diminished responsibility or intoxication.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports that the attorney for Cheyanne Harris filed the notice Thursday in Black Hawk County District Court. She and the infant’s father, Zachary Koehn, have pleaded not guilty to murder and related charges. She’s also seeking a trial delay.

Koehn has asked that his trial be moved to another county because of pretrial publicity.

Authorities have said the body of 4-month-old Sterling Koehn was infested with maggots when found Aug. 30 in the swing by deputies and medics called to his parents’ Alta Vista apartment.
