It is not the magnitude of the quake that causes tsunami. It is the volume of earth/soil/rock displaced under the water combined with the energy it puts into the water. Obviously, if it is a slope that is displaced, and it falls into a deep underwater valley, the energy of falling all goes into the water, and affects a greater volume of water as it travels.
So don't panic, but be cautiously aware and if you have anything near the west coast of the USA that you don't want to lose and which could spend some time further inland and higher up, this is the time to work on that. Even small stuff like family photos, thumbdrive backups, should be moved out of tsunami risk zones.
God helps those who help themselves.
