The Great Awakening is a spiritual phenomena, echoes in material political events, a transformation of consciousness to something higher and better and in addition to the isolated individual consciousness imposed by purely materialist world views.

What happens when a country develops ideologically or ethnically segregated information distribution systems - news and entertainment?
