Second Missouri County Becomes 2A Sanctuary, Authorizes Sheriffs To Arrest Gun-Grabbing Federal Agents

Move follows similar action by Newton County as local officials push back against fanatical Democrat gun confiscation attempts

Another Missouri county commission has signed into law legislation that will turn their county into a Second Amendment Sanctuary, impervious to any unconstitutional gun control directives passed by the Biden administration, Merrick Garland’s department of Justice, or other federal sources.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday that an order had been signed by Mercer County Sheriff Jose Lopez and the Mercer County Commission that will authorize county sheriffs to place any and all federal agents attempting to enforce anti-Second Amendment orders in Mercer County under arrest.

“This morning (02/22/2021) Sheriff Lopez and the Commissioners of Mercer County, Jerry Allen, Shane Grooms and Zachary Martin, signed into effect the ‘Mercer County Missouri Second Amendment Preservation Act’. This is a step in the right direction when it comes to protecting the law abiding citizens of Mercer Counties second amendment rights,” the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office stated in a Facebook post.

The Second Amendment Preservation Act enacted by Mercer County is nearly identical to an order passed by Newton County, Missouri earlier this month:

The Newton County Second Amendment Preservation Act will nullify any unlawful federal restrictions on firearms that may be passed under the Joe Biden administration.

“All federal acts, laws, order, rules, and regulations passed by the Federal Government and specifically any Presidential Administration whether past, present, or future, which infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment … shall be invalid in the county, shall not be recognized by this county, and specifically rejected by this county, and shall be considered null and void and of no effect in this county,” the bill declares.

The legislation also stipulates that “any and all federal agents trying to enforce the regulations listed in Section (1) shall be subject to arrest by the Newton County Missouri Sheriff’s Department,” and “the Newton County Missouri Sheriff’s Department shall be given the full authority to make the arrest of any and all federal agents that violate state laws and enforce the regulations listed in Section (1).”

Biden’s Attorney General nominee Merrick Garland has a history of attempting to restrict citizen’s’ Second Amendment rights.

Nigerian Influencer Implicated in $1.3 Billion DPRK Cyber-Campaign

The United States has revealed that Nigerian social media influencer and purported fraudster Ramon “Hushpuppi” Abbas allegedly helped Pyongyang-backed hackers launder proceeds from an “unprecedented” global campaign of state-sanctioned cyberattacks.

Authorities in Dubai extradited Abbas, whose jet-setter lifestyle had earned him social media celebrity and many millions of online followers, to the U.S. last July, where he faces charges of laundering hundreds of millions of dollars in proceeds from email frauds and other scams.

At that time, prosecutors in the U.S. declined to identify those targeted by the alleged conspiracy of which Abbas was part, specifying only that the list included, among several others, an unnamed “foreign financial institution” that in 2019 fell victim to a massive cyber-heist.

But last week, while again declining to identify the exact institution, the United States Department of Justice revealed Abbas had allegedly laundered more than US$14 million from an attack by North Korean computer programmers against a Maltese bank.

The DoJ reported that another defendant in the case, Canadian national Ghaleb Alaumary, had already agreed to plead guilty to money laundering charges for his role in the international conspiracy.

News of Abbas’s purported ties to North Korean hackers comes as prosecutors announce charges against Jon Chang Hyok, Kim Il and Park Jin Hyok, who are accused of extorting and stealing more than $1.3 billion from companies and both public and private lenders across the globe.

The trio are believed to be agents of the RGB, North Korea’s shadowy and brutal military intelligence agency. They have also been previously known as the so-called Lazarus Group.

Described as “staggering” and “unprecedented” by prosecutors, their alleged state-backed hacking campaign encompassed a litany of heists against financial institutions in several countries around the world, as well as ATM schemes, ransomware attacks, cryptocurrency thefts and large-scale phishing scams.

At one point, the three men are alleged to have engaged in a “destructive cyberattack” against Sony Pictures Entertainment in retaliation for its release of the 2014 film The Interview, which featured the fictionalized assassination of North Korea’s supreme leader, Kim Jong Un.

Against the backdrop of crippling international sanctions against the notoriously opaque country, North Korea has in recent years been repeatedly accused of turning to cybercrime as a means of padding out its depleted state coffers.

The ZeroCovid Movement: Cult Dressed as Science

This past year has given rise to some strange and novel methods of disease containment, including lockdowns and mask mandates. It is unsurprising that the natural next step in this progression has been the development of a movement known as “ZeroCovid.” Its growing influence is, perhaps, predictable given that for nearly a year we have been inundated by the views of so-called experts seeking to legitimize their myopic worldview that public health is determined solely by prevention of Covid-19.

Rather than acknowledge to a weary public that their approach has been a failure, they are doubling down and attempting to save their reputations by claiming that the problem is not that lockdowns do not work, but that they have not gone far enough.

There is, apparently, some diversity of opinion among the ZeroCovid crowd as to whether the term is to be interpreted literally, as some of its most impassioned and vocal proponents argue, or whether it simply means a more extreme version of the ideology that has dominated societies around the globe for the past year: the belief that suppressing the coronavirus is a singularly important goal, to replace all others and to be pursued with no or only minimal consideration of the effects of doing so.

ZeroCovid promoters appear to agree that much stricter border controls, lockdowns, and mask mandates are needed than exist in most nations today. Sam Bowman, one of the most prominent ZeroCoviders, claims for instance that the only way to address the coronavirus problem is with “lockdowns, school closures, travel bans, mass testing, contact tracing, and masks.” Likewise, former United Kingdom Prime Minister Tony Blair’s think-tank has stated that the only way to avoid another lockdown is to bring coronavirus cases to zero. China, Australia and New Zealand are portrayed as successes by ZeroCovid proponents, and prove that suffering now brings with it the promise of eventual freedom.

While marketing themselves as theoretically opposed to lockdowns, ZeroCovid adherents actually aspire to implement a totalitarian-style state, which we are supposed to believe will exist only temporarily. For example, Devi Sridhar, one of the movement’s most public faces in the United Kingdom, has claimed that the only way out of endless lockdown is a “crude, harsh, catastrophic lockdown” now, the first phase. Given that the third phase of Sridhar’s plan entails an “East Asian and Pacific model of elimination” that prohibits travel abroad, I can only imagine precisely what sort of totalitarian nightmare Sridhar envisions during phase one.

Those who follow this philosophy fail to recognize the glaringly obvious truth that suppression tactics have not succeeded because they run contrary to human nature (as well as basic cell biology) and entail severe deprivations of human rights and liberties. They also do not acknowledge the fact that if the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) managed to eliminate the coronavirus (a questionable assumption given the CCP’s tenuous relationship with the truth), it did so using tactics that prima facie constitute human rights violations.

Even Australia and New Zealand, which before 2020 were considered beacons of liberal democracy, have recently been the subject of investigations or inquiries by Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International. The ZeroCovid proponents do not address the reality that China, Australia, and New Zealand have continually had to implement lockdown policies in response to new cases arising even after declaring victory over the virus, and that the latter two are island nations able to effectuate border control in a way that cannot possibly be applied to nations that are geographically proximate to others and in which the virus has already become endemic.

GOP Lawmakers Demand Investigation Into National Institutes Of Health’s Relationship With Wuhan Lab

Dozens of Republican members of Congress wrote a letter to National Institutes of Health Acting Inspector General Christi Grimm on Tuesday demanding a “prompt and thorough investigation” into the NIH’s relationship with a Chinese lab that studied coronaviruses.

The 28 lawmakers demanded Grimm investigate the total amount of funding the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) has received from the NIH, as well as whether any NIH officials communicated with the lab or its U.S. sponsor at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic to quell debate surrounding the theory that the virus could have accidentally escaped from the lab.

Researchers at the WIV were studying bat-based coronaviruses prior to the outbreak, a project partially backed by $600,000 in U.S. taxpayer funds routed to the lab through NIH subgrants from the nonprofit group EcoHealth Alliance.

The president of EcoHealth Alliance, Peter Daszak, was the sole U.S. member of the World Health Organization panel that investigated the pandemic’s origin in China and reported in February that it’s highly unlikely that COVID-19 could have leaked from the WIV. Just weeks before the first known cases in Wuhan in December 2019, Daszak appeared on a podcast discussing how easy it was to manipulate bat-based coronaviruses through the gain of function research.

Gain of function research has been criticized by epidemiologists for being too risky, as it introduces the possibility that non-natural viruses could enter the human population.

Daszak also orchestrated an influential statement published in the Lancet at the onset of the pandemic that condemned “conspiracy theories” that COVID-19 doesn’t have a natural origin. A spokesperson for Daszak told The Wall Street Journal in January that Daszak’s statement was meant to protect Chinese scientists from online harassment.

“The NIH, unfortunately, has played a major role in supporting WIV and this treacherous research and the promotion of spurious claims dismissing the NIH-funded lab’s potential role in the COVID-19 pandemic,” the GOP lawmakers wrote to Grimm on Tuesday.

Australian Defense Minister Reynolds Hospitalized as 'Precautionary Measure'

Australian Minister for Defense Linda Reynolds was admitted to a Canberra hospital on Wednesday morning as a precautionary measure, according to a statement from her office.

The statement noted Reynolds was taking a period of medical leave following "advice from her cardiologist relating to a pre-existing medical condition." Prime Minister Scott Morrison has sent her his kind regards.

Foreign Minister Marise Payne will take over at the defense ministry until Reynolds returns, according to the statement.

Reynolds' departure comes amid an investigation into the alleged rape of one of her former staffers in her office by a man in 2019.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Reynolds has given the Senate conflicting accounts of her response to the event, including whether or not Australian Federal Police were present when she discussed the assault with another minister.

Reynolds, who has held office since 2019 but played a formative role in Australian defense policy for years, was expected to give a speech on Wednesday in which she would have argued that “Great power competition is increasing, and nowhere more so than in our region,” using a term introduced by the Pentagon in 2017 to describe its shift in focus away from the War on Terror and toward confrontation with the rising nations of Russia and China.

Microsoft President Blames Russia Intelligence Agency for SolarWinds Hack

Microsoft President Brad Smith told a US Senate panel there is substantial evidence that a Russian intelligence agency was involved in the massive SolarWinds hacking attack and there are no leads that would incriminate other suspects.

"I do think we can say this. At this stage we have seen substantial evidence that points to the Russian foreign intelligence agency. And we have found no evidence that leads us anywhere else," Smith said in a testimony to the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

US officials have said they agree that Russian hackers are likely behind a massive cyberattack that targeted at least nine federal agencies and 17,000 private companies. The suspects reportedly embedded malware in SolarWinds updates and patches to penetrate the networks in search for sensitive data. Russia has denied the allegations.

"We will wait for the rest of formal steps to be taken by the government and others. But there is not a lot of suspense at this moment," Smith said.

President and CEO of the CrowdStrike cybersecurity company George Kurtz agreed that there is no information available to him that would suggest that suspicions against Russia are incorrect.

"We are aware that the US government has stated this threat actor is likely of Russian origin. While we are currently unable to corroborate that finding, we have no information to suggest it’s incorrect," he said during the Senate hearing.

Smith, whose company analyzed the attack in great detail, estimated that at least a thousand very skilled, capable engineers participated in it.

"We haven’t seen this kind of sophistication matched with this kind of scale," he said.

Smith denounced the attack as an indiscriminate "act of recklessness" without "clear analogy or precedent." He called for attribution and accountability for the culprits.

"The world relies on the patching and updating of software… for everything. For physical infrastructure, for hospitals, roads, airports, because they are all run on software. To disrupt, to damage, to temper with that kind of software updating process is my opinion to tamper with what is in effect the digital equivalent of our public health service. It puts the entire world at a greater risk," he said.

The White House confirmed on Monday that it is weeks away from responding to the SolarWinds attack.

Four board members of Texas grid operator RESIGN over blackouts during deadly winter storm

The Texas electric utility is shedding board members ahead of the state probe into the blackouts that left more than four million people without power during a severe winter storm, which claimed an estimated 80 lives and counting.

Chairwoman Sally Talberg, vice chair Peter Cramton, finance and audit chair Terry Bulger and human resources and governance chair Raymond Hepper have tendered their resignations to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), effective Wednesday.

They did so “to allow state leaders a free hand with future direction and to eliminate distractions,” according to the letter made public by local media on Tuesday afternoon.

State legislators are scheduled to meet on Thursday and begin investigating what went wrong last week, as the Texas power grid collapsed amid a snowstorm and freezing temperatures unusual for the southern US state.

More than 4.5 million people found themselves without power at one point, but the ruptured pipes and damaged purification systems mean that an estimated 7.5 million in 204 counties still have to boil their water before it is fit for consumption.

Almost 80 people have died from causes attributed to the storm so far, according to AP estimates, and the number is likely to rise as local medical examiners process the backlog of deaths.

While the exact causes of the grid’s collapse are yet to be determined, ERCOT officials have said that their regular winter preparations were just not enough for the extent and the severity of the storm. There have also been reports that winterization of equipment was delayed or postponed due to Covid-19 restrictions.

ERCOT is part of a unique set-up that has most of Texas running on a separate power grid from the rest of the US. Another feature of the arrangement – the ability of power companies to charge higher prices when demand spikes – is also coming back to haunt ERCOT, as Texans have protested the astronomical utility bills as “price gouging” and insult to injury after the storm.

A Key ‘Disinformation’ Hearing Witness–Set to Blast Conservative News–is A Former Qatari Govt, Al Jazeera Employee.

A witness for an upcoming congressional hearing on “disinformation and extremism in the media” is a former employee for the Qatari-government’s “Al Jazeera” propaganda outlet, The National Pulse can reveal.

The witness – Soledad O’Brien – is set to testify on February 24th at the “Fanning the Flames: Disinformation and Extremism in the Media” hearing held by the Subcommittee on Communications and Technology of the Committee on Energy and Commerce. Her witness statement openly attacks conservative news anchors such as Tucker Carlson.

O’Brien, however, has previously served as a correspondent for Al-Jazeera, a “propaganda-spreading” outlet funded and controlled by the government of Qatar.

A 2013 press release reveals that the media company “signed an agreement with Emmy Award-winning journalist Soledad O’Brien’s production company, Starfish Media Group.”

“O’Brien will contribute short-form segments as Special Correspondent to Al Jazeera America’s primetime current affairs magazine program “America Tonight,” and Starfish will produce hour-long documentary specials,” the announcement adds.

O’Brien also praised the outlet’s “quality programming”:

“I look forward to beginning a relationship with Al Jazeera America, which has made a commitment to producing quality programming and pursuing underreported stories.”

She defended her move, which garnered criticism from fans and media personalities such as Hugh Hewitt, against a tweet noting her “affiliation” with the network “cheapened” her work by adding that the gig was a “great opportunity to do great work.”
