Feds Increase Migrant Releases amid Detention Space Shortages

U.S. Border Patrol issued instructions to begin the immediate release of migrants to avoid overcrowding in temporary holding facilities as ICE struggles to cope with increasing apprehension rates along the southwestern border.

This development follows a short-lived plan to move released migrants further inland to alleviate stress on the typically smaller border communities.

Now, ICE’s ability to transport illegal immigrants further into the United States is strained due to the new influx of migrants appearing in recent weeks, law enforcement sources tell Breitbart Texas.

In the Rio Grande Valley, more than 2,000 asylum seekers were apprehended within the last 48 hours. Sources report that at least 600 family unit members are in custody and cannot be returned to Mexico under the CDC Title 42 COVID-19 emergency order. Border Patrol agents are also struggling with the spike in single adults from Central America and far beyond the Americas.

The Rio Grande Valley has seen a 647% increase in family unit asylum seekers over the course of seven weeks. The peaks are seen across the southern border sectors, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the situation.

Prior to the cancellation the Trump administration’s agreements with Central American countries known as Asylum Cooperation Agreements (ACAs), seekers were swiftly returned to their home country when credible fear interviews disqualified them from further consideration. In addition, the Migrant Protection Protocols, also known as the Remain in Mexico Program, forced the returns of many to await hearing dates in Mexico and therefore avoided release into the United States.

Federal sources tell Breitbart Texas the order was received mid-afternoon today from CBP officials in Washington, D.C. to begin broader migrant releases as suitable detention space and nonprofit alternatives are overwhelmed.

ICE provided the following statement concerning the situation:

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) constantly evaluates its posture at Family Residential Centers to meet changing operational needs. Custody determinations are made on a case-by-case basis in accordance with US law and DHS policy. Individuals can be released from custody based on the facts and circumstances of their cases, and may be placed in alternatives to detention, including release on recognizance, or formal monitoring programs.

The categories qualifying for release, as reported by law enforcement sources, in addition to family unit members not accepted by Mexico under the CDC Title 42 COVID-19 guidelines, includes all single adult apprehensions with no criminal history in the United States.

The new development further promises to burden small border communities and NGOs to absorb the mounting humanitarian and public health crises.

Randy Clark is a 32-year veteran of the United States Border Patrol. Prior to his retirement, he served as the Division Chief for Law Enforcement Operations, directing operations for nine Border Patrol Stations within the Del Rio, Texas Sector.

Amnesty International Rescinds Navalny's 'Prisoner Of Conscience' Status After Discovering His Past

In a surprise twist on the Alexei Navalny saga, and on the very day that it's being widely reported Biden is preparing sanctions on Russia as punishment for his alleged poisoning by nerve agent last August, the human rights organization Amnesty International has withdrawn its formal designation of Navalny as a "prisoner of conscience".

US state-funded Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reports the following on Tuesday:

Amnesty International has reportedly withdrawn its recent designation of Russian opposition politician Aleksei Navalny's as a "prisoner of conscience" over his alleged advocacy of violence and discrimination and comments that included hate speech.

Aleksandr Artemyev, the rights watchdog's media manager for Russia and Eurasia, confirmed the decision to Mediazona on February 23 after the news was first reported by U.S. journalist Aaron Mate.

And just like that it appears the narrative which cast Navalny and his supporters as some kind of 'anti-Putin freedom fighters' has been deflated.

The early February street protests following Navalny's arrest after he arrived from Berlin where he'd been recovering from an alleged poisoning were widely supported by officials in the West, including by the US and some European embassies in Moscow.

This created tensions leading to the Kremlin expelling a handful of European diplomats, citing their stoking unrest related to 'illegal' protests. US mainstream media also gave the large pro-Navalny protests close coverage.

=Amazon quietly ends sales of books it labels 'hate speech'==

Retail giant made policy change sometime prior to purging from its store "When Harry Became Sally," a book criticizing transgender ideology.

Sometime before this week, when it removed from its digital shelves a book critical of transgender ideology, Amazon altered its content policy to explicitly forbid books that promote "hate speech," a major rule change that could be used to rationalize action against a broader range of books sold by the digital retail giant.

Amazon this week yanked "When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Movement" from its main web store, its Kindle servers and its audiobook lineup with no explanation, even as the book had been available on the site for three years with no apparent controversy.

In the 2018 book, author and political philosopher Ryan Anderson draws on years of scientific research and data to criticize the prevailing approach to transgender issues in modern medicine. The book "exposes the contrast between the media's sunny depiction of gender fluidity and the often sad reality of living with gender dysphoria," according to its sales blurb.

Anderson told Just the News that he had received no explanation for the ban.

Reached for comment by Just the News, Amazon declined to provide any explanation, offering instead a link to its book content policy.

A review of those policies suggests that sometime in the last few months Amazon made a major change to the ways in which it moderates book content on its servers, imposing a much stricter standard on books than it had previously done.

The link provided by Amazon this week claims in part that, where books are concerned, the company "[doesn't] sell certain content including content that we determine is hate speech … or other material we deem inappropriate or offensive."

Internet archives show that as recently as August of last year, Amazon's book content policy did not include any mention of "hate speech." At that time, the company stated only that "we reserve the right not to sell certain content, such as pornography or other inappropriate content."

On the older page, the company directed users to "guidelines for other categories of products," such as products featuring "offensive and controversial material." That policy stipulated in part that Amazon "does not allow products that promote, incite or glorify hatred," but the rule explicitly noted that the policy did not apply to books.

The company did not reply to a followup query asking when the policy had been changed, and why.

Anderson said he was not notified by the company that his book was removed.

"I only found out because people trying to buy it told me it was gone," he told Just the News. As of Tuesday, he said that he and his publisher had received no response from Amazon as to why the book was removed.

Anderson conceded that the book "advances an argument from a certain viewpoint," but he argued that it "didn't get any facts wrong, and it didn't engage in any name-calling."

He noted that the book upon its publication received widespread praise from credentialed experts, including "the former psychiatrist-in-chief at Johns Hopkins Hospital, a longtime psychology professor at NYU, a professor of medical ethics at Columbia Medical School, a professor of psychological and brain sciences at Boston University, [and] a professor of neurobiology at the University of Utah."

Banks, financial services firms next to bow to 'woke left,' ban conservatives, warns Rep. Ted Budd

"It's just the next frontier for the radical left," said the North Carolina Republican, a member of the House Financial Services Committee.

A new frontier in "cancel culture" is looming on the horizon: Banking and financial services firms could ban conservative customers and others from industries targeted by the left, warns North Carolina Republican Rep. Ted Budd, a member of the House Financial Services Committee.

The targets appear to include Republican members of Congress who voted to challenge the 2020 election results (just as some Democrats did in 2017, 2005 and 2001 without facing financial backlash). Additional possible targeted industries range from fossil fuels and firearms to for-profit colleges and payday lenders.

Affirm, a company extending installment loans for consumers to use at the point of sale to finance a purchase, confirmed to The New York Times last month that "it severed ties with MyPillow." MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, a prominent supporter of former President Trump, has come under fire for his disputed claims about election integrity during the 2020 election.

Rep. Ted Budd (R-N.C.), a member of the U.S. House Financial Services Committee, told "Just the News A.M." television program on Friday morning that financial institutions are coming under pressure from the left to deny services to customers, calling it "the next frontier for the radical left."

"I think all of them are feeling pressure right now," Budd said. "Just as we in elected office have to realize who our constituency is — for me, it's about 750,000 people across 10 counties in North Carolina — they have to realize who their constituents are. And that's depositors. That's real men and women go into work every day out there."

Budd, who owns a gun store and is a federally-licensed firearms dealer, said "the woke left" not only wants to push government agendas to the left, they also desire to push corporate agendas to the left.

"They want to be involved in proxy recommendations and board recommendations at every level of companies," Budd said. "I would encourage the leaders and companies to step up, be their own leaders and realize that they need to represent all of America."

In 2019, some conservatives called for online payment company PayPal to be boycotted after the CEO of PayPal announced it would use the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) as a resource for them to help ban users. The SPLC is controversial among conservatives, who say the group targets conservatives, and Christians in particular, labeling Christian groups as "hate groups" or "extremists" because of their religious views.

"Cancel culture is a huge problem right now," Budd said. "The real problem is that we're seeing that fact checkers — and I would use SPLC as one of the fact checkers — and they're not checking facts. They're pushing their leftist agenda … I would encourage people not to use them, and to come up with their own agenda that represents the whole of America, not just the extreme left."

Calling the SPLC "not reliable," Tyler O'Neil, author of "Making Hate Pay: The Corruption of the Southern Poverty Law Center," told Just the News in an email, "Conservatives and those who rightly oppose this ramped-up cancel culture … should pressure corporations to drop their reliance on this scandal-plagued smear factory."

China did ‘little’ to investigate COVID-19 origin, leaked WHO report claims

Beijing has long insisted it was cooperating with efforts to trace the source of the COVID-19 pandemic. A damning new report suggests otherwise.

In the months following the emergence of COVID-19 in China, authorities did “little” to try to find the source of the infection, a leaked World Health Organisation (WHO) document claims.

The first cases of coronavirus emerged in Wuhan, China in December 2019, with the virus soon moving to other countries across the world.

There have now been more than 111 million confirmed infections and more than 2.4 million deaths worldwide as a result of the virus.

China has continually claimed that the virus was circulating in other parts of the country before emerging in Wuhan, with officials even pointing the finger at countries such as Australia, India and the United States by claiming the virus was brought in through imported seafood and beef.

Now, an internal WHO travel report summary seen by The Guardian, has suggested Chinese authorities may have been dragging their feet when it came to investigating the origins of the outbreak.

The report, which was dated August 10, 2020, also claimed Chinese officials gave WHO scientists little information during their own investigation of the virus.

The report summarises WHO program manager and mission leader Dr Peter Ben Embarek’s trip to China between July 10 and August 3, 2020 to “review work done so far on the origin of the virus”.

During the trip, his team met with relevant ministries and agencies to discuss the emergence of the COVID-19 virus.

“Following extensive discussions with and presentation from Chinese counterparts, it appears that little had been done in terms of epidemiological investigations around Wuhan since January 2020,” the report stated.

“The data presented orally gave a few more details than what was presented at the emergency committee meetings in January 2020. No PowerPoint presentations were made and no documents were shared.”

The emergence of this document comes after a team of WHO scientists completed a more recent trip to China last month to further investigate the origins of the virus.

FBI File: UFOs and Their Crimes File

Background

It took three years, but The Black Vault got the FBI to release their Pre-Processed List of Previously Released Files, which is a list of just that – pre-processed files that have been released before (on ALL topics) and do not require a review prior to being mailed out.

This was the section of the much larger file, which referenced “UFOs and Their Crimes.”

On that list was a peculiar file entitled, “UFOs and Their Crimes”. A FOIA request was filed in August of 2020, for numerous UFO related references from this list, including the “UFOs and Their Crimes” file. The request was split into multiple cases, and the “crimes” file was given FOIA case 1488310-000.

The result of the request, after about 6 months of waiting, was that the FBI could not find the file. It is unclear why they are unable to find this specific file, nor is it clear what it was about. The FOIA denial letter is found below.

An appeal has been filed, and as of now, it remains to be processed.

DOJ withdraws from federal lawsuit claiming unfair competition from transgender athletes in high school track racing

'Girls deserve to compete on a level playing field'

The Department of Justice withdrew their support of a federal lawsuit seeking to overturn a state policy in Connecticut that allows transgender athletes to race in women's track competitions.

The lawsuit by several female runners claimed that they had been deprived of wins, state titles and athletic opportunities because they were unfairly competing against transgender runners who were biologically male.

The Department of Justice under the previous administration had filed a statement of interest in the lawsuit in March in support of the lawsuit to change the policies of the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference. William Barr, the Attorney General at the time, argued that the unfair competition violated Title X, which defends equal opportunities for females.

On Tuesday, that statement was withdrawn.

Connecticut U.S. Attorney John Durham and other officials said in a statement that the "government has reconsidered the matter."

The CIAC has argued that it is following guidance from state law that says students should be accommodated according to their preferred gender identity.

The Alliance Defending Freedom, who filed the federal complaint, argued that the CIAC is violating the equal rights of the female athletes.

"Girls deserve to compete on a level playing field. Forcing female athletes to compete against boys is grossly unfair and destroys their athletic opportunities," said ADF legal counsel Christiana Holcomb.

"Now when we line up in front of our blocks, and the starter calls us to get into position, we all know how the race will end. We can't win," said Selena Soule, one of the female athletes charging discrimination.

Robin McHealen, the executive director of LGBT rights group True Colors, criticized the lawsuit.

"What they are proposing is legally sanctioned discrimination under this lawsuit," said McHealen.

Here's more about the transgender lawsuit:

Leaked docs reveal how news agency Reuters secretly serves as a tool for British influence across the world

Reuters is one of the largest newswires in the world, providing untold numbers of journalists with text they can reuse. What few know is that some of that content is funded by the UK government to serve London’s global interests.

Among a tranche of secret UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) files recently leaked by hacktivist collective Anonymous are papers indicating that Thomson Reuters Foundation (TRF) – the international newswire namesake’s “charitable” arm – has engaged in information warfare initiatives on behalf of Whitehall.

These endeavors form part of a wider effort to demonize, destabilize, and isolate Russia, at home and abroad. At Whitehall’s direction, TRF has covertly cultivated Russian journalists, established influence networks within and outside Russia, and promoted pro-Whitehall, anti-Moscow propaganda in Russian-speaking regions.

These activities have been comprehensively exposed by journalist Max Blumenthal. TRF tenders for the projects submitted to the FCDO were signed by its CEO Monique Villa, former managing director of Reuters Media and now adviser to Thomson Reuters' CEO, suggesting the company itself is directly involved in the cloak-and-dagger operations of its ‘non-profit’ offshoot at the highest levels.

Moreover though, the Foundation’s submissions also reveal the insidious role it has played in furthering London’s financial, geopolitical, and ideological objectives elsewhere in the world.

For instance, one file details how TRF has “[established] news services” in “countries of interest” to the FCDO. A cited example of this activity is the creation of Aswat Masriya, an “independent” media outlet, by TRF in the wake of the 2011 Egyptian revolution.

The operation was secretly funded by the FCDO to the tune of £2 million, and run out of the newswire’s Cairo offices, which“provided payroll, human resources, and security support.”

“[Aswat Masriya] became Egypt’s leading independent local media organisation until its closure… Its content was offered for free syndication across the region,” the document boasts. “In 2016, [it] became one of the top 500 most visited websites in Egypt.”

Strikingly, the individual responsible for setting up the platform was Will Church, TRF’s ‘Head of Journalism Projects’. A leaked resume reveals he played a prominent role in the organization’s various FCDO-funded covert operations in Russia.

A still-extant TRF profile of the Aswat Masriya endeavor claims 300 Egyptians were trained via the project, with this army of journalists generating in excess of 300 stories every week, which were duly picked up by over 50 media outlets worldwide weekly.

The UK’s rationale for kickstarting the venture at a time of such upheaval couldn’t be clearer. The ousting of long-time Egyptian leader Hosni Mubarak in 2011, and the country’s difficult transition to democracy, represented both significant opportunities and challenges for Whitehall.

The revolution, and subsequent election of Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohamed Morsi, had the potential to threaten London’s significant economic interests in Cairo and the region more widely. Establishing a “neutral” news platform issuing content for both domestic and international consumption would therefore allow the FCDO to maintain a degree of narrative control as events unfolded in the country.

Chicago lawmaker calls to BAN Grand Theft Auto in new bill, blaming ‘violent video games’ for spike in carjackings

A Democratic lawmaker in Chicago is pushing to ban the sale of all violent video games, claiming the graphic ‘Grand Theft Auto’ series – which debuted more than 20 years ago – is to blame for a wave of carjackings around the city.

State lawmaker Marcus Evans Jr. introduced an amendment on Monday that would “prohibit the sale of all violent video games,” including those that depict “motor vehicle theft with a driver or passenger present inside the vehicle when the theft begins.” He singled out GTA by name during a Monday press conference:

‘Grand Theft Auto’ and other violent video games are getting in the minds of our young people and perpetuating the normalcy of carjacking

The idea for the amendment came last month after Evans met with Chicago community activist and philanthropist Early Walker, who also argues games like GTA are corrupting young minds and contributing to the carjacking craze, citing his own ‘research.’

“Representative Evans and I have researched and concluded that these very young offenders of carjacking are greatly influenced by the Grand Theft Auto video game,” Walker said. While he did not outline what he and Evans found in their research, or why a series that hit the shelves in 1997 would only be having such an effect now, he added “I truly believe that there is bipartisan support to ban this game from being sold in Illinois.”

The amendment will alter a 2012 law that restricted the sale and rental of violent games to minors – GTA among them – ramping it up to ban all sales of such games, saying they encourage players to “to perpetuate human-on-human violence.”

Media Silent as Biden Illegally Holds Unaccompanied Migrant Children, Says Border Patrol Union

The mainstream media is being silent as the Biden administration holds unaccompanied migrant children in Border Patrol custody longer than legally allowed, the head of the Border Patrol union stated. The minors are being held in the same “cages” the media and Democrat politicians loudly criticized the Trump administration for.

National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd told Breitbart Texas that as of Monday, Border Patrol officials held more than 800 Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) in custody. Despite the legal requirement to release the children to other federal agencies within 72 hours, more than 212 remained in custody longer than the legal limit.

“Today, [White House Press Secretary] Jen Psaski said the Administration could not hold the children in other locations due to the Covid protocols including social distancing,” Judd told Breitbart, “but what she didn’t tell the media was that the children in [Border Patrol’s] custody were being held in conditions that have nearly no way to social distance.”

Psaki’s remarks came in a Tuesday press briefing in response to questions from Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy. Forbes tweeted a video of the exchange.

To be clear, Judd states that the Biden administration is holding unaccompanied minors in Border Patrol custody longer than the law allows in conditions where social distancing cannot be maintained in order to keep social distancing in other federal facilities.

“The hypocrisy from the left and the mainstream media truly shows they care nothing for the children they used as pawns to attack President Trump.” Judd said.

“Today Jen Psaski said ‘Customs and Border Control’ [not Customs and Border Protection] continue to transfer unaccompanied children to HHS’ Office of Refugee and Resettlement (ORR),” the Border Patrol union leader explained. “She went to great lengths to explain that due to the pandemic and social distancing, ORR only has capacity for a certain number of children.”

“What she didn’t explain is that the children that ORR doesn’t have that capacity to take are left in facilities far worse than those of HHS,” Judd continued. “In fact, they are being held in the same locations they accused the Trump Administration of inhuman acts when they said he was holding ‘kids in cages.'”
