It's evil,

but it's not the mark of the beast.

That mark is not a physical,

but a spiritual mark.

It's opposite of the one mentioned in Ezekiel 9,

where those godly men were marked to keep them safe from the destroying angels.

The context of the mark of the beast is relative to the Harlot committing fornication against Christ Jesus and His Gospel,

under the direction of the False Prophet,

presenting himself as an an "angel" of God

(an Apostle, since angels are sent by God, and "apostle" is "one who is sent").

It is referring to apostasy taking the form of godliness,

while denying the power thereof.
