Bi-partisan support has emerged after Democrat Assemblyman Ron Kim intensified his push for Governor Andrew Cuomo to be impeached over the nursing home COVID-19 death scandal.
Mr Kim held a rally today in New York along with other Democratic elected officials and families to “once again demand justice for nursing home residents” and call for Governor Cuomo to be impeached.
Mr Kim said after he became vocal about Andrew Cuomo’s mishandling of the scandal, he received an abusive phone call from the governor where he threatened to destroy his political career.
“He spent ten minutes threatening my career and ordering me to issue a statement that would be used to cover for the states secretary," he said.
“The day before that call the states secretary Melissa DeRosa had implicated his administration by admitting that they withheld life saving nursing home data because they feared the information would be used against them".
“Cuomo is an abuser. He has abused his powers. Abusers are cowards."
New York congressman Lee Zeldin praised Ron Kim’s bravery for standing up against Governor Cuomo.
“Kudos to Assemblyman Kim, a Democrat willing to courageously speak up on what he’s been experiencing. He’s been a target of the governors bullying directly”, he told Fox News.
