In order to understand what this mark is, we simply understand the Antichrist counterfeits everything God does in and according to the Doctrine of His Son. The mark of the Antichrist therefore is the opposite of the seal of God. The seal of God is shown in Ezekiel, where the foreheads of all those crying out for sin were marked to protect them from the destroying angels. It is that of which the Revelation speaks, where those of Christ have His Name and the name of the city of God written upon their foreheads.
Where can we find people were marked under the shadow of things (under the law) on their foreheads and their hands? In the Old Testament, God speaks of the Israelites wearing His Commandments between their eyes (the forehead) and upon their hands:
And it shall be for a token (sign) upon thine hand, and for frontlets between thine eyes: for by strength of hand the Lord brought us forth out of Egypt.
Egypt is the symbol for sin and the land of the dead, and when men are raised new creatures in Christ, they have been raised from the dead. That is, those once dead in trespasses, are now in Everlasting Life. This grave of trespasses is Egypt. Just as Israel had crossed the Red Sea (a shadow of baptism, of dying in Christ to be made free from Death and the accused inheritance of the slavery of sin) and had exited from it (a shadow of being raised up in new Life to serve a new Master), and just as they were given the Laws written on stone by the finger of God they afterward wrote on phylacteries worn upon their foreheads and upon their arms/hands after being raised up out of the sea, so those who have been raised up new creatures in Christ have His Commandments written upon their hearts and minds by the finger of God. They are written not upon stone, but upon hearts of flesh, which in turn transform the mind from the corrupt thinking of the old man, to that of the mind of Christ.
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: and thou shall teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And you shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. In Deut. 6
Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes. Deut. 11:18
It is the Laws the Jews carried about in their frontlets and upon their hands (hands was a term that also meant arm). The hand or arm is what leads from the heart. The frontlet represents the mind, and the sign upon the hand, represents the heart. That the arm is the same as the heart is demonstrated here:
6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Song of Solomon 8
Paul also described this:
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people… Heb. 8:10
Paul was quoting from Jeremiah 31:33:
33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
And Jeremiah was quoting from Deuteronomy, which I have quoted above. The after those days is referring to Christ having perfected the Promise of the offering for sin by the Seed, on the cross, and the sealing of those in Christ was demonstrated that day on Pentecost. The accounting of Righteousness by the Faith of the Doctrine of Christ, the Baptism of the Holy Ghost, writes the laws upon the minds and hearts of those raised in new Life in Christ according to the INNER man. The Laws are written upon the INNER man by the accounting of Righteousness according to the Promise of the Seed, and in this way, AFTER having been so accounted by God, such a man lives not under the Law as that Law being foreign and outside of his inner nature, but such establishes the Law (the Law of Righteousness) because that Law is no longer foreign and outside of his nature, but written in his new nature after the image of Christ Jesus.
Now that we know what the mark of God is–His Laws written upon the minds and hearts of the children of Inheritance, we may know what the Antichrist's mark or counterfeit seal is: It is men's doctrines and traditions, other commandments, not the laws of God, but their own laws. They following those laws follow these as their frontlets, and all to which they put their hands is marked by these false laws. These with foreign laws written upon their hearts and minds behave in accordance with those laws and as such, behave in contradiction to God's Laws since their foreign laws provide things God had never commanded through the Prophets and the Apostles or which in those Laws, He has accursed.
