Today is a Lantern Festival.

This Weekend’s Full ‘Snow Moon’ Will Split North America In Two And Spark A ‘Lantern Festival’ In Asia

What is a ‘Lantern Festival?’

Lunar New Year festivities in Asia—which began at New Moon on Friday, 12 February, 2021 to mark the beginning of the “Year of the Ox”—are concluded with the rise of the “Snow Moon” on Saturday, February 27, 2021. So the Chinese New Year of 2021 began on February 12 and the celebrations—called the “Lantern Festival” and “Yuanxiao”—end on February 26.

Yuanxiao is the 15th day of the Lunar New Year.
