Albert Maggio Joins The Vatican’s Council For Inclusive Capitalism

CRGO Law recently announced that Managing Member Albert B. Maggio Jr., a Wellington resident for the past 11 years, has joined the Council for Inclusive Capitalism with the Vatican. The council is a global nonprofit organization that joins moral and market imperatives to build a more inclusive, sustainable and trusted economic system that addresses the needs of people and the planet.

The council is committed to action. Upon joining, council members commit their organizations to measurable and meaningful acts to create equality of opportunity, equitable outcomes, and fairness across generations, and to those whose circumstances prevent them from full participation in the economy.
The council was launched in December with the belief that businesses have a responsibility and the capability means to create stronger, fairer and more dynamic economies and societies. Council membership is open to all companies and organizations who are willing to make measurable, public commitments toward more inclusive and sustainable business practices.

Biography
Albert focuses his practice on corporate, securities, technology, and licensing transactions, as well as executive employment matters, with a special emphasis in the software, communications, entertainment, media, and financial services industries. He routinely represents high growth companies in negotiations of debt, equity, and M&A transactions; licensing, distribution, and strategic alliance agreements; as well as corporate formation, structure, and operational matters. Albert has served as a trusted advisor and legal counsel to directors, management teams, and significant investors in several venture-backed and public companies, including Netegrity (acquired by CA), SpeechWorks (acquired by Nuance), Unveil (assets acquired by Microsoft), R&O/ViaSoft (acquired by Allen Systems Group), Kavado (acquired by Protegrity), InterSec Research (acquired by State Street Bank), Boston Green Goods (acquired by Aerus), Atrus (assets acquired by En-Pro Management), and Hyperbius (Hyperchiller® assets acquired by Pick Five Imports, Inc.).
Albert has also guided his clients through securities compliance issues and has developed corporate ethics and compliance programs. He has represented corporate and individual clients in complex commercial, intellectual property, and executive compensation litigation in state and federal courts. Albert represented one of the defendant’s in Architext, Inc. v. Kikuchi, et al., 20 Mass. L. Rep. 127 (May 19, 2005); 2005 Mass. Super. LEXIS 487, 2005 WL 2864244, the leading Massachusetts state court trade secrets case, wherein the trial court declined to adopt the "inevitable disclosure" doctrine and denied the plaintiff's motion for preliminary injunction and attachments. His civil appellate experience includes appearances before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and the Massachusetts Appeals Court.
Albert was formerly a financial advisor and held Series 7 & 66 securities licenses with Merrill Lynch and UBS in Palm Beach. He served initially as outside general counsel and subsequently as head of finance, administration and law for a Silicon Valley software company which was acquired for $30 million in 1996. Prior to his law practice, Albert held sales and management positions with Unisys, Honeywell, Prime Computer, and Wang Laboratories, where he developed and managed the relationships with some of those companies’ largest customers.
Albert is a Steward on the Council for Inclusive Capitalism with the Vatican, where he shepherds CRGO Law's commitments in support of the Council's Guiding Principles. He was a founding mentor at FAU Tech Runway (2015-2019). He served as a board member (2014-2017) of the Palm Beach Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Albert also served as president (2012-2013), board secretary (2008-2011) and a member of the board of directors (2008-2014) of the South Florida Technology Alliance, Inc. (SFTA). He was an executive committee member of the MIT Enterprise Forum of South Florida (2007-2014), a board member and secretary (2007-2014) of Il Circolo – The Italian Cultural Society of the Palm Beaches, and a founder, secretary, and director (2010-2011) of the Palm Beach Figure Skating Club. For 25 years, Albert has been an advisor to Youth Catalytics, a a New England based non-profit organization that supports and advances child and youth services in communities throughout the United States.
Albert was an adjunct professor of ethics and business law at Atlantic Union College and was appointed to the adjunct faculty of Worcester Polytechnic Institute’s graduate school of business just prior to relocating to South Florida in 2006. He has been quoted in Business Week Online, The Boston Globe, and The Recorder (CalLaw).
