Americans more concerned with violent protests in US cities than Capitol riot, more certain pro-Trump rioters get convicted – poll

A new poll has found people are more concerned about protests that turned violent over the summer in major cities than the violence at the US Capitol, and that most believe it’s the January 6 rioters who will face full justice.

Polling nearly 1,800 people in the last week of February, the Harvard/Harris survey found 55 percent of respondents were “more concerned” with violence in US cities – specifically over the summer of 2020, when many turned to rioting and violence – than with the riot at the US Capitol, while 45 percent were more worried about that specific incident.

The poll also found Americans have more faith that those involved in the Capitol riot will be “prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law” (65 percent) than those involved those who perpetrated “violence in America’s cities” (48 percent).

The US Capitol riot was also referred to by a majority of respondents (54 percent) as an “armed insurrection” rather than a “protest that then turned violent.” Such verbiage has been a point of debate as critics of ex-president Donald Trump unsuccessfully tried to make the case that he “incited” an insurrection with his speech in DC only hours before, when he told supporters to “fight like hell” and continued promoting his belief that the election was rigged in Joe Biden’s favor.

Amazon sales for banned Dr. Seuss book soar over 5.7 MILLION percent after publisher halts printing over ‘hurtful’ stereotypes

Classic Dr. Seuss books are flying off the shelves at Amazon after the late author’s publisher moved to stop printing six titles containing “hurtful” imagery, driving up sales for one work by a staggering 5.7 million percent.

A decision by Dr. Seuss Enterprises to scrap the six books on Tuesday over what it called “hurtful and wrong” stereotypes appears to have sparked a buying frenzy on the e-retail giant, with the defunct ‘McElligot's Pool’ surging to the top spot on Amazon’s “Movers & Shakers” section. At the time of writing, the page showed that sales for the book were up by 5,785,593 percent over the last 24 hours, while ‘If I Ran the Zoo’ – another nixed work – was up by more than 835,000 percent.

Texas Judge, Three Others Charged with 150 Counts of Voter Fraud in Republican Primary

A grand jury indicted a Texas justice of the peace and three other people in February in connection to an investigation into voting fraud. The four co-defendants face 150 counts related to the 2018 Medina County Primary Election.

A grand jury handed down indictments on February 11 charging Medina County, Texas, Justice of the Peace Tomas Ramirez, Leonor Rivas Garza, Eva Ann Martinez with 150 counts of voter fraud, News4SA reported. The indictment includes charges relating to organized election fraud, assisting voter voting ballot by mail, unlawful possession of a ballot or ballot envelop, illegal voting, election fraud, fraudulent use of an absentee ballot by mail, acting as an agent, tampering with government records, and election fraud.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Texas Office of the Attorney General. A statement from the attorney general’s office reads:

In Bandera County, Leonor Rivas Garza, Eva Ann Martinez and Tomas Ramirez were indicted on several charges related to the 2018 Medina County Primary Election. On February 11, Garza, Martinez and Ramirez turned themselves into the Bandera County Justice System. This case involved allegations of vote harvesting at assisted living centers in Medina County in the 2018 Medina County Primary Election.

Biden admin won’t let media visit migrant children facility ‘due to COVID-19’

Reporters will not be allowed to tour migrant detention centers holding minors near the border of the United States and Mexico due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a spokesperson for the Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families this week.

The Daily Caller News Foundation reported exclusively on Monday that media members will be unable to visit the recently-opened Carrizo Spring facility for unaccompanied minors in Texas.

“The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) is not hosting media tours of unaccompanied children (UC) facilities currently due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” an ACF spokesperson told the Daily Caller. “If media tours resume, we will send a media advisory.”
