Fox CEO Calls Fox News 'Loyal Opposition' in Biden Era

Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan Murdoch characterized Fox News on Thursday as being the loyal opposition during the presidency of Joe Biden, taking a similar position he said that MSNBC had during the presidency of Donald Trump.

"The main beneficiary of the Trump administration from a ratings point of view was MSNBC. And that’s because they were the loyal opposition," Murdoch said via video session during the virtual Morgan Stanley Technology, Media & Telecom Virtual Conference that was webcast. "That’s what our job is now with the Biden administration, and you’ll see our ratings improve for the next four years.''

Murdoch’s comments followed a question about Fox News’ ratings decline, which saw them fall behind CNN only to regain the lead.

Our audience was disappointed with the election results, Murdoch said.

"Seventy-five million people voted for a Republican president, sometimes in spite of his personality at times," he said. "That's what we represent. We're going to stick to the center-right. That's where our audience is."
