I adopted a couple of blind, 14 year old small dogs about 8 months ago. Their owners, separately (because these dogs didn't meet until they landed at the rescue group) decided that they just couldn't handle them, for some reason, because they went blind.

So the rescue group that saved them called me, because I already had 5 "unadoptables" from the rescue. Asked me if I could make room for the 2 old blind guys, and I said, "of course."

Now they are like the center of my world. They're the pampered ones, because in my pack of underdogs they are the underdoggiest dogs of them all.

I love them because they remind me every day that no matter how bad of it a situation it seems you might be in, like going blind, getting old, and being discarded from your old family, you can still find something to wag your tail about every single day. We are as resilient as those little dogs and, no matter how bad things get or seem to be, there's always something for us to be happy about, even if it's just a warm pair of pajamas and a toasty warm bed.

I've been burning the candle, working at home, but every night I get the 7 dogs in the bedroom, and the 2 blind shrimps snuggle right up next to me.

Why tell you all that? Because your picture of Pepe all snug as a bug reminds me that right now, as I battle some enemies domestic in real life, there's still something to wag our tales about. It's bedtime and I hope to get as comfy as you and Pepe.

Thank you for the cute reminder, fren.
