I liked the per-post captcha from the start. It was Fastjack's best idea and not even Q appreciated it.
That might be true in France or Mexico, but Americans are so broken they wouldn't even care.
It's easy enough to do animated GIFs in Gimp. Open a few existing ones and you'll be able to learn by example within a few minutes.
