‘Huge middle finger’: YouTube tells foreign creators they will soon be charged AMERICAN tax

YouTube has told its content creators and partners that they need to prepare for paying US taxes on their earnings – even if they live and work elsewhere. The already beleaguered video creators are taking it poorly.

The video platform, owned by Google, actually updated its terms of service to tax US creators shortly after the 2020 election, but the change went largely unnoticed in the uproar about censorship. On Tuesday, however, YouTube announced that the taxes will soon be taken out of earnings by creators outside the US.

Taxes will be deducted from earnings derived from US viewers through “ad views, YouTube Premium, Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Channel Memberships,” the platform said.

China has 1 million people behind propaganda machine to undermine US, top US admiral says

During a Tuesday hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee, U.S. Indo Pacific Command (INDOPACOM) commander Adm. Phillip Davidson said “China has a vast disinformation machine” with a million people behind it that it uses to undermine the U.S.

Responding to questions by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) about the threat Chinese disinformation presents in the Indo-Pacific region, Davidson said, “They use regular media and social media and have nearly a million people in their propaganda machine.”

Davidson said the goal of China’s disinformation efforts is “to undermine U.S. interests, to capture the narrative to their own benefit and to … corrupt the environment in a way that creates doubt amongst our allies and partners in the reliability of the United States.”

Biden admin urges Congress to pass anti-gun bills criminalizing private sales and extending FBI holds

President Joe Biden’s administration released a statement Monday pressuring lawmakers in Congress to pass two gun control bills that would extend FBI holds and criminalize private gun sales. Both are up for a vote on Wednesday.

The administration is pushing for Congress to pass the Enhanced Background Checks Act of 2021 and the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021, which were both introduced in the House last month.

“Gun violence is a public health crisis. Every day, gun violence – community violence, domestic violence, suicides, and mass shootings – takes American lives and forever alters many more. Last year, we saw record levels of homicides in cities throughout our country, violence that disproportionately impacts Black and Latino communities,” the statement read.

Capitol security panel wants Nat’l Guard or federal agents to permanently protect Capitol

A Capitol security panel ordered by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi recommended assembling a permanent “quick reaction force” (QRF) comprised of National Guard troops or federal agents that can respond quickly to security incidents at the U.S. Capitol and around Washington D.C.

In a draft report published Friday, the Capitol Security Review, led by retired Army Lt. Gen. Russel Honoré, recommended the formation of a dedicated QRF, comprised of either federal agents, or National Guard troops in various potential force compositions.

The security panel recommended the QRF be formed in one of three ways.

DCCC Hires Staffer with History of Anti-Law Enforcement Posts: ‘I Hate the Police

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s (DCCC) latest hire, Erica Joy Baker, has a history of espousing anti-law enforcement sentiments on social media, expressing hatred for police officers and likening them to “modern day slave patrol.”

The DCCC, which is chaired by Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY), announced Monday they hired Baker (pictured) as the committee’s chief technology officer (CTO).

“Erica Joy Baker will be the first-ever Chief Technology Officer at the DCCC, and Chris Hayden will serve as the first-ever disabled communications director at the committee. Together, these hires bring a wealth of experience to the DCCC,” the DCCC said in a press release Monday.

However, Baker has a history of espousing controversial, anti-police statements on social media. In one tweet, dated April 19, 2016, Baker referred to the police as “modern day slave patrol”:

French Schoolgirl Admits She Made Up Story Causing Teacher’s Beheading

She did not want her father to find out the real reason behind her school suspension.

A 13-year-old girl admitted she made up the story of her teacher Samuel Paty asking Muslims to leave the room before he showed a Muhammad cartoon in October 2020.

The girl’s lie led to a man beheading Paty.

The girl, who has not been named, told her father Paty asked Muslims to leave the room before he showed the Muhammad cartoon during a free speech and blasphemy class.

The girl claimed she objected and the school suspended her.

In reality, Paty warned the students about the upcoming Muhammad cartoon. He asked those who might get offended by the cartoon to close their eyes.

The girl did not know what happened in Paty’s class because she did not attend that day:

The girl had originally claimed the teacher had asked Muslim pupils to leave the room. When she objected she was suspended from school, she said. It now appears that the girl was suspended the day before the class was given, according to Le Parisien newspaper, because of repeated absence from school.

The girl explains in her leaked testimony that she made up the story so as not to disappoint her father. He posted two videos on social media in response to the allegations.

The girl did not want her father to find out the school suspended her over her absences.

New Harvard web app will help ease ‘anxiety’ around finding ‘gender inclusive’ bathrooms for students

Harvard University is developing a web application that will show where “gender inclusive restrooms” are located across campus. The project titled, “The Gender Inclusive Restroom Mapping” hopes to prevent discrimination and anxiety for gender nonconforming individuals who aren’t able to find the appropriate restroom on campus. Harvard also stated that it is a “public health concern.”

According to the Harvard Crimson, the university created four separate working groups that will help with the project. The signage, inventory, mapping technologies, and promotion/communication working groups collaborated to determine the location of restrooms across campus and consulted with groups to promote awareness.

Harvard published a PDF that gives a summary, and the intended impact of the project.

The Government’s War on Free Speech: Protest Laws Undermine the First Amendment

It’s a given that the government is corrupt, unaccountable, and has exceeded its authority.

So what can we do about it?

The first remedy involves speech (protest, assembly, speech, prayer, and publicity), and lots of it, in order to speak truth to power.

The First Amendment, which is the cornerstone of the Bill of Rights, affirms the right of “we the people” to pray freely about our grievances regarding the government. We can gather together peacefully to protest those grievances. We can publicize those grievances. And we can express our displeasure (peacefully) in word and deed.

Unfortunately, tyrants don’t like people who speak truth to power.

The American Police State has shown itself to be particularly intolerant of free speech activities that challenge its authority, stand up to its power grabs, and force it to operate according to the rules of the Constitution.

Cue the rise of protest laws, the police state’s go-to methods for muzzling discontent.

In July 2020, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Reynolds School of Journalism at University of Nevada, Reno launched the Atlas of Surveillance, a database of now more than 7,000 surveillance technologies deployed by law enforcement agencies across the United States.
