Restrictions on Twitter to apply only to transfer of photos and videos

According to the watchdog's deputy head, users will be able to exchange messages smoothly

MOSCOW, March 10. /TASS/. The actions of the Federal Service for Supervision of Communications, Information Technology and Mass Media to initially decelerate Twitter’s loading speed apply only to photo and video content and do not apply to text messages, Deputy Head of the federal agency Vadim Subbotin told reporters on Wednesday.

"Starting today, Roskomnadzor (Russian media watchdog - TASS) has taken measures of a centralized response, namely, decelerated the service’s loading speed. The slowdown will cover 100% of mobile traffic and 50% of fixed traffic," he said.

"It involves slowing down the transmission of photo and video content, without limiting transmission of text messages. Thus, users will be able to smoothly exchange messages," he added.

Subbotin stressed that, when choosing an enforcement measure for Twitter, the federal agency proceeded from the goal that inconvenience for users of the social network should be minimal.

According to the official, restrictions on Twitter will remain in effect until all prohibited information is removed.

"Roskomnadzor's actions are aimed at forcing Twitter to comply with Russian legislation in order to protect users, including children, from prohibited content posted on the Twitter platform - until it is completely removed," Subbotin said.

He also stressed that the watchdog has every reason to completely block Twitter, but hopes for a constructive position of the company. The official recalled that his agency had repeatedly warned the company about the need to comply with the legislation of the Russian Federation, but the company ignored the requirements.

Time to ditch the Barbie? Playing with thin dolls can make girls as young as FIVE want a slimmer body, scientists warn

UK experts from Durham University gave girls as young as five dolls to play with

They were either 'ultra-thin' from toy firm Mattel or the 'realistic' Lottie and Dora

The ultra-thin dolls reduced the girls' ideal body size but the realistic dolls didn't

Exposure to ultra-thin dolls may lead to body dissatisfaction from an early age

Thin dolls like Barbie can make children as young as five want a slimmer body, a new study warns.

UK scientists asked girls between the ages of five and nine to play with two ultra-thin dolls, including Barbie, and two dolls portraying a more realistic body weight.

The two ultra-thin dolls, both made by American toy giant Mattel, immediately reduced the girls' ideal body size, the researchers found.

Meanwhile, the two realistic dolls – Dora and Lottie – seemed to have no effects on body dissatisfaction.

Thin dolls, combined with exposure to 'thin ideals' in films, on TV and social media, could lead to body dissatisfaction in young girls, which has been shown to be a factor in the development of eating disorders.

Mumford & Sons Guitarist Steps Down After Endorsing Andy Ngo's Book Exposing Antifa

Over the weekend, Mumford & Sons lead guitarist Winston Marshall committed the unpardonable sin of endorsing conservative journalist Andy Ngo’s book unmasking antifa. The woke mob raised a ruckus, and Marshall’s own bandmates appear to have bought into the specious claim that any opposition to antifa agitators somehow makes a person “fascist.”

“Over the past few days I have come to better understand the pain caused by the book I endorsed,” Marshall, who is British, said in a statement on Twitter. “I have offended not only a lot of people I don’t know, but also those closest to me, including my bandmates and for that I am truly sorry. As a result of my actions I am taking time away from the band to examine my blindspots.”

“For now, please know that I realize how my endorsements have the potential to be viewed as approvals of hateful, divisive behaviour. I apologize, as this was not at all my intention,” the guitarist concluded.

Marshall had nothing to apologize for. His endorsement of Ngo’s book Unmasked did not endorse fascism and included nothing objectionable. “Congratulations [Andy Ngo]. Finally had the time to read your important book. You’re a brave man,” the short tweet read.

Ngo is indeed a brave man. He took to the streets to cover antifa agitators who engaged in violence in Portland. Antifa agitators thew “milkshakes” at him, hurled projectiles at him, punched him, and kicked him. He continued to report on their activities and law enforcement’s actions to hold them accountable.

Over the summer, the antifa riots that had long plagued Portland spread across the country. Black Lives Matter protests following the death of George Floyd devolved into looting, rioting, and arson, and antifa agitators played a key role in this violence. Yet the legacy media denied the violence and destruction, claiming the riots were “mostly peaceful protests.”

Antifa agitators and other leftist activists have demonized Ngo and others who call out antifa violence, claiming that any disagreement with antifa’s far-left aims is tantamount to support for fascism.

Ngo and others like him face harassment for daring to oppose the Left’s orthodoxy and tell the truth about the Left’s violence.

While many conservatives rightly condemned Marshall’s decision to cave to the outrage mob, conservative commentator Erick Erickson noted that the mob’s pressure is real and can be quite terrifying. “Having faced cancel culture, I’d note that most of those attacking [Marshall] for apologizing don’t know what he is dealing with,” Erickson wrote.
